restore painted wheels back to original color??

I'm wondering if this is possible, as most of you know I have a set of VS-XX now that's painted black with glossy gold lip. The original color of the wheels were polished, I want to restore it back to that color.

Is there any way I can do this myself? What do I need to buy to strip all the paint off? Will the paint stripper screw up the original polished color? I don't mind if it takes a while to do, I just don't want to go and pay someone like $500 when I can just do it myself.

Thanks in advance.

I would assume that the original polish on the rims were scuffed and sanded and wat not to be painted. So if that is the case you prob have to strip the current paint off with a paint stripper and once all done re-polish the rims by hand..

if the polished finish was just painted on then you might be able to just strip the paint off and maybe some minor polishing..

im not sure tho i have never painted polished rims and went back to the polish..

Stardragon has a slight shameless behaviour in his/her past.

Any kind of repainting requires sanding to get adhesion for the new paint. That means that the original color has been screwed. So to get it restored you need to repaint- or rechrome them. Wich ever you are trying to do.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a paint remover since it's not an "intelligent" product and thus wouldn't know how many layers of paint to remove when you apply it. Even if you are really careful. Plus, there is probably some kind of primer between the old and the new paint layers.

So my tip would be to sand them down, remove any dents and scratches you might have, and then hand them in somewhere for a new paint job.
