Volume up and down with Ipod in Aux port

Just wondering if anyone is having this problem and if a solutions exists.

2007 TSX. Plugging an Ipod Touch into the Aux port. The volume will shift up and down without any intervention. Head unit volume stays the same, as well as the Ipod volume setting, but the sound goes up and down at random.

sometimes - it seems like just the vocal track goes down and leaves the surrounding track at the set volume. sounds weird I know, but that is the best way to describe it. Its almost like having a kariokee machine in my car.

Any ideas?

Try another cable first. Doubt thats it but worth a shot. Maybe try some other type of media player to plug in a see if it does the same thing. If it does, sounds like a problem with the stock stereo. Take it to the dealer.

I am using a cable to connect my iPod Touch to my Aux and I don't have any problems. It is just a $5 3.5mm to iPod connection cable.

Did this suddenly start up or has it been happening for a while? Also, do you mean the entire track itself goes up and down or is it like the beats drop down to being inaudible and you can hear the singing just fine and vice versa, or both? I got kinda confused in that closing part of your post. In other words, sometimes it sounds like an instrumental track and other times acapella? If it is just the track itself seeming to go up and down then I have heard of this happening before. Usually it is the causes in the following paragraph that causes it. Unfortunately, you may need to talk to your dealer and have them check it out if the following doesn't help and the issue persists.

Usually there is a short somewhere in your circuit or cable or maybe even audio jack of your iPod touch. It could be diff things though. I would suggest simply trying another wire or making sure that it is pushed in all the way in both your ipod and your aux port, easy fix lol. If all connections are good and it still does it then you can try out your audio jack on the ipod by plugging headphones into the ipod to see if that is it. Again, if everything is well then it sounds like it would be a short somewhere in your car's system. Could be from the aux port to HU, HU to speakers or something else. You can also try to connect another person's ipod or mp3 player and see if that does the same thing, if so then it will prolly turn out to be a short somewhere in the car itself. Unfortunately it could be a few things but hopefully it will be a cheap fix. Stock radios are always such a headache. Best thing is to go from easy solutions to expensive in order to weed out possibilities. Plus a dealer will prolly ask if you tried another device, different wires, make sure it isn't your audio device etc. They don't wanna waste their time if you ain't spend some time trying to negate out issues. Hope you are able to find out what it is and let everyone here know incase they run into the same prob down the road. Gl buddtee

P.S. These are just the most common issues I have seen and def is not an exclusive list. It could be a multitude of factors but it sounds like it may be your iPod due to the track changing issue, a car's system wouldn't be able to negate out certain areas of the track itself. I would try another audio device for a while and see if the same issue persists. If it stops when you use the other device then you can pretty much bet apple is the wrong doer in your scenario lol.

Im going to try a new cable first as suggested. This problem started a couple of months ago.

Ipod does not give me the issue when Im listening to music using the apple head phones.

And yes, there are two problems. Sometimes the entire volume goes up and down, and sometimes its selected audio tracks (usually the vocal track) that goes down and leaves the rest at a regular volume.

Picking up a new cable today.
