I have the MS8. I recommend it to everyone at a first step.
If all you do is change your speakers, chances are you've installed something that is designed to operate in a higher power range than what the OEM amp can deliver. You compensate by turning up the volume, and the closer you push the amp toward its limit, the higher the distortion. Once you get into speakers, you're into an amp, then you still have the problems you didn't solve with any of this: door panel resonance, phase/timing issues, etc. You basically take your OEM sound, change the one slightly and make it louder. The MS8 can correct for all kinds of issues, and is like having separate EQ's for all your speakers.
I installed components first, then the amp, then finally the MS8 and will say that the MS8 made the biggest difference. It's a big improvement in quality, imaging and detail. IMO, the best bang for the buck with all things considered (comparing it to swapping all speakers, adding amps, and all the wiring and adapters that goes with).
My final setup is:
Ch1/2 - Front Dash Tweeters powered by MS8's internal power amp
Ch 3/4 - Front Mids in Door Panel - powered by Kappa 5 full range channels 1/2
Ch 5/6 - Rear Door Speakers - powered by Kappa 5 full range channels 3/4
Ch 7/8 - Sub1/Sub2 - rear 6x9's - powered by kappa 5's sub channel
Logic7 - ON
Even getting the newer cars as loaners when I take my car in for service, I can say this sounds better...
