If you every plan to use your audio system with the engine off, GO FOR THE OPTIMA or ODYSSEY! Yes, I am shouting. You can get the best normal sealed battery money can buy, but if it is not a deep discharge battery, it will die quickly once you run it below 50% capacity.

Optima 51R is discontinued for now, but you can fit a larger one in or go for the odyssey.

Phase, The yellow top is discontinued because it wouldn't hold charge (or soemthing to that effect). I'm assuming that if you buy one now, it'll be a defective one and yeah, you'll need to make a battery tray. I think people have just not used the tray and made sure the battery was secured witht he tie down thing.

I went tot he CNE (City Fair) and saw an Enegizer booth. Apprantly Energizer makes a battery for the TSX but nowhere on the pamphlet does it have the specs of the battery.

They are just as good, have a wider range of size applications and can be mounted on its side or upside down if you want. But Optima batteries look cooler.

Yellowtops are not discontinued. The only discontinued model is the D51 and D51R, which incidentally is the size for the TSX (and Mazda 121 ). Yes, they fail and they fail bad. One day it works, the next day it's gone. The spiral cell in it breaks from vibration because the battery is so small and the spiral plate assembly is thinner. My friend's D51R that was les than a year old just failed last week. So be warned.

If you use a D51R, you reuse your original battery tray. The reason why someone removed the tray or made a new one is because he had to use a larger sized battery since the D51R is not available anymore.

since I am not running anything extra....I am thinking if it dies again i'll just go to walmart to buy that 50dollars battery.....

What was the service departments reason for not replacing the battery?

TSX stock battery is not the best out there when comes to capacity wise. And lately when i turn on too much electronic gadgets the Nav will malfunction and not able to acquire gps signal. Also battery dies if i listen to music for like 30mins or so.
I also have harder timme starting, unlike when it is new, it will start just 1 crank, now i have to crank it longer.

btw, my car is at 65k miles and it is 2004/nav
Did replacing the battery fix your issue I am having the same problem along with the CD button doens't seem to work either.

how much is it at costco buddha?

do you have the 75/25 (D35) or the 51R? I found the 51R on batteriesRus for 180 shipped, considering getting that but i'm having trouble finding them in store, that way i can recycle my current battery and possibly get some $$ for it

nvermind, after seeing pix on the other battery thread, i just ordered a yellow top D35 180 shipped, pretty good deal. other place i found a 51R was for 175 shipped. 5$ more for a bigger battery, can't complain, and from the pix, it fits. touche!
