Not sure if you are "Acuraxxxx" forum member or not, but there's an excellent discussion on this issue when UR release their pulleys. Not to challenge your mechanic, because what he said is partially right. However, take off your stock pulley and check if you have one. The only think I could tell you is, my stock pulley laying in my basement does not have the harmonic dampeners, guess I have a Lemon TSX?

I've done a fair bit of research on this topic and I believe pulleys are a safe enough mod to install. Mods like Hondata are the same. You're reprogramming the ECU altogether and who knows what it'll do to your engine after say, 300,000kms? Most people here aren't going to have their car for more than 10 years anyways.

i mean sorry to be a bit straight Acidlotus...but isn't this all part of the fun of modifying?!?!...you're doing something out of the norm...i mean if what you say is true then you shouldn't put an aftermarket filter in.....or a shortshift...but all these items have been used for years...the fact is that I suspect in real world performance those pulleys would proide a distinct change in drivability - faster spin up..easier take off..these are items NOT shown in a dyno and many people forget....dynos are measured according to RPM and NOT against TIME...people need to realise this because time is VERY significant to accleration. What would be intersting is to plot RPM against TIME for the pulley install before and after.....you'll most likely find that the time given to hit a given rpm is reduced with these pulleys. In layman terms you reach a given power output much sooner.
To even see that the pulleys do have that sort of increase surprised me.......the crank must be quite loaded..I only ever thought that pulleys would help increase rpms faster...but seems like there is two added increses here with the increase power and torque AND ALSO the faster spin up time.
Thing is anything you do to the engine might affect it...whose to know......more likely someone gonna run into you and then even a stock motor won't help you there
:-)...so do what you want to do and enjoy..and if things do go wrong at least you've learnt something new :-) .....have fun..drive safe

LOL why argue.. we know someone isnt going to be a customer to these pulleys.. lol.. if you have doubts stick with proven parts like the URs or even stick with OEM.. if you want to try new stuff.. try these NST's but anyways its good to have another product to choose from.. when something is a monopoly it seems prices are higher.. with this introduction lets hope the competition goes down in price so we have more choices..

have you put down deposit??? Maybe you can test this new NST pulley kit. It shows approximately the same gain as UR, without the big (steering ???) pulley. The design is a bit different than UR, so if combine w/ the big pulley after they release it, there's a chance that it can do better than the UR.

I wasn't looking for the NST, but I would like U to be da geniue pig to test it out... haha... j/k
But if you take a look @ the other forum, the NST alternate pulley?? (not sure if that's the name), is smaller than the UR, or whatever but the size is different. Therefore it won't affect the electric current sth like that. I'm not too sure tho, need to read more and try to understand it.
Off topic: Did you guys read about the Redshift SC? the guy who in charge said they are using the 05 5sp TSX for preference (I guess it's his car). So there's some hope for us 05 5AT TSXer.....~!!! WOWOWOOO

Ok guys, I wanted to put an update about the pulleys after about 1500 miles.
One thing I will tell you is this is the first time I have had NST pulleys on any of my cars, and I think they are pretty much amazing. I have killed cars i didnt think i would be able to kill due to the little gain and my car feels more aggressive, I must say I recommend these pulleys for whoever is planning for them.
I have had no problems with them as of yet, except feeling the need to always go WOT all the time. I have also noticed on the Civic Si(new ones) forums that they have been using NST on thier cars lately which have similar motors to ours, for instance here is one thread http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/showt...ghlight=pulley
So as you can see NST is becoming pretty popular with hondas also.
NST FTW!!!
