Dyno - 2008 6MT TSX

Well I decided to dyno my 2008 6MT TSX just to get some baseline readings. The car is stock except for a K&N drop in filter. I have roughly 1100 miles on the car. I haven't seen many dyno charts for 08 TSXs so I figured I might as well contribute! I'm still crossing my fingers for the Hondata reflash to come out, especially after looking at all the power that is missing from 5000-6000rpm.

Nice! Welcome to the club (if anyone hasn't said it already).

What kind of plans do you have for the car (aside from waiting for Hondata)?

Thanks!

For now I'm probably just going to get a nice set of wheels and some coilovers. Do a few misc things to the grill and do something with the crome around the windows. Hopefully by the time I get all that stuff done then some type of engine management will be out so I can start working on the engine.

Just looking at the graph, I can tell there is still a lot to be desired. Maybe not peak power, but usuable power all the way up. I would like to see the car above 200 whp. It's just an all around fun car to drive that has all the luxury features I wanted. I had a 96 GSR that was supercharged and had fun with that car but I wanted something a little bit "higher" class I guess you could say. Plus I'm not really into the straight line street racing anymore, which is kind of what I had built the GSR for. At some point it would be fun to take the TSX to the road course that we have out here. We'll see.

Well normal rates at most dynos are generally $65-75 per hour or more depending on what all you want to do. Alot of places will setup dyno days where you can do like 3 power pulls for $50. If you are actually tuning your car then you can be there for quite a few hours. I know when I tuned my GSR we were there for like 4 hours or so, but I didn't exactly pay full price either. Hehe.

Not bad numbers for a stock tsx. I thought they dynoed at 160 whp for some reason..

Thumbs up

excellent baseline numbers. I can tell you that the typical mods-I/H/P/Cat orTP will help w/ the lack of pull on a stock 6MT. Keep us posted on your progress.

I believe the earlier ones before 06 dyno'd closer to 160, but revisions to the 06 and up help acheive the higher number.

Yep, all the basic bolt ons will definitely help, I'm just going to wait a bit and do some of the suspension work first and hope that some form of engine management comes out for some good tuning. I would be happy with a reflash, but K-pro would be even better.

"I would be happy with a reflash, but K-pro would be even better."

K-Pro would change the aftermarket for TSX's forever. All major power adders need a tuneable ECU.

Jrscgsr

yeah that was decent going to the dyno again johnny, considering i hadnt been there in about a year. tsx has about 40 less horse than the old jrsc teg and weighs a lot more but the tsx still surprised me. it was great when will and i tuned your old jrsc gsr on the dyno on christmas day.

just get the im and throttle body gasket/heatshields and a t1r test pipe.

oh how i miss your old sgpjrscgsr johnny. your old gsr was epic. beating up on some bolt on 4th gen f bodies and 281 mustangs in your old gsr was fun. that and beating up on your random skyline powered 240 here and there on west dodge. rofl.

oh yeah the tsx dynos were done in 4th gear and baseline with stock air filter was 183whp.
