Chipping Hondata with a Donor Car's ECU?
Has anyone done this before? I was looking to go to the recycle yard to buy a TSX ECU(same year, same tranny) off a donor car, send it to Hondata to chip it, get my Acura buddies to re-sync it to work with my immobilizer and key? Will this work at all? Since I am planning save my unchipped ECU everything I go get my service done, or is this way too much? Will the Acura techs be able to scan my ECU if it's been chipped or not? For pricing, looks like Clubrsx has the best deal so far(with today's currency, not really worth paying AJ 200-300bucks more I guess?) Thanks in advance guys!

Does it matter if I have to send the key and the immobilzer to Hondata or can I just send them just the ECU? Thanks!

Ecu + immobilizer + key -> all 3 must be programmed to work together, b4 sending it to hondata.
This is reason why I haven't done it
Immobilizer from dealer I think is 17 or 18 bucks, but you have to pay dealer labor coast to reprogram new ecu with key & immobilizer. Just all sounds like a pain, but well worth the extra horsies

Rice79burner, sounds like a lot of work. That means I need to have everything (Immoblizer, ECU, key) sync before I send it out to Hondata. And in order for my car to keep running while sending it to Hondata, I have to get another immobilizer and ECU, right?

let say your stock ECU and Immoblizer is one set, how about just take your Donor car's ECU and the stock Immoblizer to Acura to ask them about making the Donor car's ECU to work with the stock Immoblizer. after that, u can send the Donor car's ECU + immobilizer + key to Hondata. then now you have 2 chipped/unchipped ECUs wif one stock Immoblizer. pls correct me if i am wrong.

You have to make sure the ecu is from an automatic. i called dealer and the immobilizer part number are the same for o5 and o4. those parts you have are all sync'able, but if I were you I would send your extra set of keys and hold on to your tl key, just less confusing. I havent heard any problems from people who have done the swap, but hondata is never going to come out with a o5 reflash

Didn't want to quote the whole thing.... and just wanted to CLARIFY this...
So basically I can find a ECU from a wrecked TSX same year same transmission buy an XTRA immobilizer and take it to the dealer so they can sync it with all my keys (xcept my TL blade key) then send it all in(xcept for the blade key) and still be able to drive my car until the ECU comes back..? Does the xtra immobilizer and ECU have to be in the car for them to sync them???
Will the Dealership do this without questioning the reason behind this??? The dealership I bought the car from wouldn't even sell me an Aspec kit because he said " your car wasn't originally an A-spec car and we can't do that since all Aspec cars have a serial # which is required before we can order the kit".

I'm going to skip the whole find another ECU and buying another immobilizer and getting it synced at the dealer... found a shop locally and got a quote of $625 tax included to send my ecu out of my car, the key, and immobilizer to hondata...
One more thing: Couldn't the place where I had my TL switchblade key made just sync a 2nd ECU, immobilizer and keys for me??? He synced my TL switchblade and all the other keys to the ECU and immobilizer after he made the TL switchblade...
