I am not a big fan of metallic intakes of any kind. i prefer to modify stock intakes to cold air or ram air. you should check out some of the DIY intakes posts. For Example: An even better DIY Intake!. i just finished this one and i felt some pretty decent gains. not to mention you cant get any better quality than OEM Honda... just a thought though

um... you are mistaken.
first off, Mugen is not metallic.
second off, it IS better quality than OEM Honda.
third off, it IS based on OEM design, just vastly improved.
it's not just a metal tube with a filter on it.
do you even know who Mugen is?
I suggest doing some research on parts and companies that make them.
okay, that aside... to the OP:
I completely agree with you, and I myself ordered the Mugen carbon fiber intake
about two months or so ago. It has not arrived yet though.
Everything Mugen makes for our car is a perfect fit.
They have a part or two for the CL7 (Euro Accord) that don't fit perfect on our car,
like their CL7 (K20 engine) header, but every part made for our TSX (CL9)
is an absolute perfect fit. Mugen fit can be clasified as OEM fit.
There are a few people on this site that have the Mugen intake.
Installed:

06tsx

Mugen CL9

shadowlegz

lito

If you dont wanna spend the money could get a Comptech Ice Box which is generally the same idea.
If I had the $ i would get the J's. Group M is nice but uses a K&N Filter.

Thanks for the post MMsTSX. Ive always had great success with Mugen products, and don't mind paying more for the quality.
Ideally, Im looking for a short ram intake with velocity stack, that's connected to some sort of piping which draws air from the bottom of the car. So, have the best of a short ram and cold air intake.
Any of these offer a velocity stack? I assumed Mugen did because it came on my old one...

I can't find any links to the gruppe M, or J's racing, specific to our cars...
I know kingmotorsports carries Mugen. Suggestions?

And a bag of chips too.
WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! The TSX is an awesome car. You'll find there is a TON of stuff out there for it, and most of it is pretty damn good!

Haha Thanks Marcus.
It seems like all those intakes just replace the top box portion of the intake and don't address how its going to pull cooler air from below...unless im missing something from the pictures?
Can you clarify.

I am pretty sure that all of the intakes get rid of the resonator and replace it with either a filter or an air funnel.
I think Mugen uses and air funnel.
J's uses an air duct the reroutes the air.
And Gruppe M is more of a short ram intake.
Anyone, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Just trying to help you out.

Mugen is just like the icebox.
a new, bigger, free flowing box with a flat filter.
it has a tube that goes down to collect air from the bumper.
J's has a short ram setup that has a deflector plate that's
put in down below I think.
I think how it's setup is there is a deflector plate that takes
air from part of the lower grille and sends it up.
there's a block off plate that kinda forces it up to the filter.
so no tubes, but a cold air design.
Gruppe-M has no tube or deflector plate I think.
Not sure at all though.
I don't really know for sure on any of them though.
this is just what it looks like to me.

it does have that nice, molded, almost custom look to it.
I wonder what weave it is? 1x1 or 2x2...?
looks like 1x1 to me. which I like better.
http://www.gruppem.co.jp/application...to/fr-0507.htm
same basic idea as the J's.
just lacking the directional plates it seems.
I agree, it's very nice looking.
and pretty rare too.

These intakes are all really good. The gruppe M while lacks ducting to the fender well area still has a sealed off chamber that it draws from. The volume under the hood is segregated form the engine bay and still draws air form the fender well area, which is cool air.
Still, In this league....I pick Mugen.

The only real issue I had with my Mugen intake is that the fiberglass bell mouth it uses to draw air from the fenderwell is only mounted with a hose clamp to the OEM rubber hose. Mine kept falling off.
I ended up buying a Comptech icebox so I could replace the Mugen air horn with the much larger comptech version that bolts securely to the chassis. So, I have a hybrid Mugen/Comptech intake now.
