Exhaust questions
So, I drive an 04 AT and I'm not really looking to boost my power a whole lot. Don't get me wrong, I'd like a bit more power but I don't need to squeeze every last ounce of HP out my TSX, I don't track it or race (Had my fun with that on my RSX-S, my driving record shows that, which is why I had to sell it - insurance FTL). That being said, I am going to be going for mostly aesthetic modifications. As far as the exhaust goes, I don't find it worth it to pay 800+ for a cat-back system - I think our cars have a fairly decent exhaust flow design as is for my needs. Buuut, I do love the look of a single outlet on the TSX. A friend of my dad's owns a custom exhaust shop and I was wondering if it would be cost effective, if even possible to modify my existing exhaust to become single outlet and just put an aftermarket muffler on it to get a nice exhaust tone, and look.

I think you know the answer to you question but I will tell you my own experience with custom exhausts. I took both resonaters out, put a pipe and got magnaflow mafflers and chrom tips. I drove it like that for a year or so and all that time I had my eyes on aftermarket cat-back exhaust and finely changed it to Tananbe Touring. So I'll say do it once, do it right.

but if you want to do it your way

Yeah I was actually looking at that 5Zigen Pro Racer ZZ - but I was under the impression it was out of production, is that true? I'm looking for a house at the moment and can't blow $800 so I figured by the time I had the money it'd be long gone.
Like I said though, for my needs I'm really just going for looks and a nice exhaust tone. I just wasn't sure if it was possible to convert OEM exhaust to a single outlet without messing it up. I'm sure I could get that part done free if it is possible, as well as attaching the muffler, which is 1/4 the price of a cat-back system.

Removing the cylinder resonator adds some low end tone and a tad of volume. A cat will also free up quite a bit of horse power while adding some sound.
Aside from those, if you remove from one of the mufflers on the tail and replace it with an Apexi or Magnaflow you will probably get a mellow but nice tone.
I would keep the square mid resonator on because that baffles the high end sounds.

if it's purely for aesthetics, how about you just get Ap2 Exhaust tips. AP2 meaning they're from the S2000.
Just a thought

Despite the fact that some people are convienced that custom exhaust is ghetto, I see nothing wrong with it. If u get a decent muffler and resonator(s), and the job is done well, I think it can be just as decent as most aftermarket systems. Single exhaust is for power, dual is for aesthetics. Unfortunately single outlet cat-backs cost quiet a bit of money, so me go custom

^ inexpensive? I know a shop that does piping and welding and other things for $100. All I have to add is the cost of the muffler and resonator(s). They do their job well bc thats where I got my flex pipe installed. Also, the 1st one is just a knock off the CT system and Tsudo... well I have my doubts about Tsudo

If you go the Dual route, I would say get Apex'i WS2 universal mufflers. It as the oval tips that you want and their very nice because they have the rolled tips as well, giving it a bit of a thicker edge.

reflash before i die plz

have any of you guys read about the WS2 piping rusting? it's obviously not a full stainless steel exhaust, and it has some weird titanium powdercoat. i've just read some random reviews from various forums saying that their WS2 started rusting after 2-3 years.
