no offense taken. nobody here has really done anything like what i am attempting. im just gathering information. now i see that my goals were lofty and either i should scale back or get out of this car.
if all i needed was the torque converter it wouldn't be prohibitively expensive for me. now that i need to build the engine, the trans, boost and tune thats out of my league.
im going back to the drawing board.

Just jumping in...
If you're looking for decent numbers at the track, throw on a turbo, a decent clutch, and a little tuning. Cars this size and weight can land into the 12s with street trim without that much work - even on the stock bottom end.
NA is great in its own right, but bang for the buck, turbo will get you streetable real gains.
Try this before you start building NA: bone stock motor + decent turbo kit + decent management + a clutch that won't kill your quad. For a daily, it will be plenty fun and quite competitive on the street and the strip. Invest in some 22"ers if you want to lay down quick times as well.
My $.02
I'm curious to how much power the AT tranny can hold onto before it pukes.

I would say scale back your goals, make them achievable.
Good question, have you ever driven a car with a real world 300whp or more? If the answer is no, then before you make crazy goals, start at square one.
Don't try to run before you learn to walk, and also don't try to reinvent the wheel.

i have driven a friends is350 (270 rwhp stock) but nothing with too much more power than that. i ride shotgun in a 400 hp evo 9 every other day though. After thinking about this some more, i realize that im going about this the wrong way.
As i said earlier, im going to rethink what i want and the best way to get there. I think im going to get K-pro and tune my current hytech setup. After i get a feel for how the car runs then, ill decide what to do next.

Slow driver

Well I am glad that you decided to set more realistic goals. I learned my way through that once. I drove an 04 G35 and it was quick...... but not fast. Right after that I drove BMW 335i auto and jeeeeeeeeez.................. It was WAY faster due to the TQ. At that moment I realized that 300HP and 250+ WTQ will seal the deal for me......
