Yes indeed!
I was actually over 40 a day "over there" until they started sucking.
And I noticed that Minch was at something like 70 until they clamped down on PW.

Another Satisfied New Owner
I took delivery of my new Carbon Grey over Ebony AT non-Navi TSX last Friday, and I'm already beginning to fall in love. After two problem-prone new cars, it appears that I've finally found nirvana. With just 350 miles on the odometer, it's a bit early to make judgements, but so far I am totally enamored with the TSX. No rattles, no errant panel lights, no problems at all thus far.
Let the perfection continue!

Bob, are you serious??!! You have to use BMW oil only? Can't use Castrol, Mobil or others? You have to change your oil at the dealership only?
|
Yes. That's what I get from reading the BMW boards. There is a TSB that says you can use 5W30 Mobil-1 in a pinch for topping up but otherwise it's BMW branded motor oil, all the way. BMW-branded motor oil supposedly was Mobil-1 in the past but is now Castrol Synthetic, supposedly either with or without some additives that BMW's engineers found helpful or harmful, I don't remember which. BTW, it isn't excessively pricey. Since the new BMWs come with free maintenance for 50k miles, most wouldn't worry too much about this.
Honda, as you may know, specifies only using Honda-branded ATF in their transmissions, so this isn't unique. And the Honda ATF is not cheap!

Welcome! I had the same syndrome, starting at 0.1 miles.
By the way....what were those 2 previous cars?

I think this thread needs a bump.
Although the idea of a "sticky" thread needing a bump is pretty ridiculous.
Let's see.....they sell about 1500-2000 TSX's a month, which is about 60 a day. And if even just 1% of those people post their experiences, that would be a few every week.
I figured it out!
Trivia question: Where does "I figured it out!" come from?

This is not true. I've talked to my service techs several times concerning this issue. As long as you use a synthetic oil (does not have to be BMW branded), and keep records of the date the oil was changed, how many miles the car had, and keep your receipts, you can even do the oil changes yourself or use a local shop. You are not tied to the dealer any more than any other car out there. Plenty of people on the BMW boards change their own oil without voiding their warranty.
Furthermore, for the first 4 years or 50K miles, all maintenance is free. And I'm not just talking about oil changes...my wiper blades were worn out on my last trip. I mentioned this to the tech, and they were replaced without charge. The only things not included in this maintenance package are tires and the clutch. That's a pretty sweet deal as far as I'm concerned, and had a lot to do with my decision to buy the 325i.

I've just taken hold of my PWP 6MT TSX and I could not be more happy with my purchase. Except for the speeding ticket I got for being alittle zealous with the peddles.
