Is TSX a good car to get? :-)
I'm only half kidding.
We're probably getting ANOTHER one.
(I mean in addition, not instead.)
My lady has gotten real jealous of the TSX, and it's getting harder and harder for her to get into her Corolla any more without feeling like puking.
And since I haven't been here too much the last few weeks, I feel like I have no idea about the car any more.
That's almost true.
Anything I need to know lately about the car?
And what's been the story about deals? When I got mine (at the very beginning) you had to pay full price to get a TSX, and that's what I did.
But last I heard, everybody was getting like at least a couple thousand off MSRP. Also I wonder if people have been doing even better lately, because it's not far from the end of the model year.
We're probably going in tomorrow to do a trade-in/purchase.
Anything we oughta know?

Hi Larch,
First of all, get to 10K already .....
I really have started to like the '06s more than when they first came out. I dig the integrated fogs, and the wheels don't even seem as offensive anymore. The extra power, bluetooth, heated mirrors, are all things I wish I had.
I know a few hundred over invoice is easily accomplished around here in central CT; you're not that far away, would you be opposed to a road trip if dealers around you aren't budging?

Thanks Lanny!
Let's see, central Connecticut........We actually have a country house in the Berkshires now, so that might not be far at all.
Mind my asking what dealers you know of?
I've been thinking we'd just stick with my old friends in Larchmont (Acura of Westchester), but it wouldn't hurt to consider up there.

Like WHAT?
I find it amazing that in the 3+ years since the TSX came out, IMHO nothing better has come out, and no existing car has been improved to rival it either, and nothing even comes close except arguably the TL.
I know that some people would disagree.
Actually just about everybody would disagree.
On one of the old sites, I did a thread where I said the TSX was the best car even if you go all the way up to $80K. And the only reason I stopped there was that I don't know the cars above that.
Obviously my criteria are a little unusual.
The car has to have good nimble handling, decent power, it has to be narrow enough for me to get it into my garage without side-swiping and it can't be RWD. And it has to have great reliability.
Sorry, those don't have to be your criteria but they're my criteria.
All the cars that SHOULD beat out the TSX fall down on one thing or another.
Mercedes and BMW -- they gotta get their reliability back in line.
Volvo -- ditto.
Saab -- close but no cigar. Maybe getting there but got some more work to do.
Even the TL........I wouldn't trade a TSX for a TL even-up. In fact, I wouldn't take a TL for a TSX if you paid me. I think it's the SECOND-best car out there. It has obvious advantages over the TSX (if it didn't, Acura wouldn't be able to sell it for more than the TSX), but they don't outweigh the TSX's better handling. Plus I wouldn't be able to get it in my garage without crashing it half the time.
Anyway.......What new car are U talking about?

i was thinking IS250...but u don't like RWD for some reason so nm...
and there's the new 325...which i don't like....apparently u don't like them either...
u can still wait for 2008...
since you are not really in hurry....i wouldn't just buy it now
but ur criteria is kinda weird...so I guess we are quite different
oh...if u want coupe.....get civic si and let ur wife drive ur TSX...
isn't that cool?

....or wait a few months for the new Civic Si 4 door......
But I totally agree with you Larch. Take the IS250. In our region, you can order a 6MT IS250 only one way-it's 32K with no HIDs, no Blutooth, no Navi, can't even get that stuff.
If you do want that stuff, you have to choose an Auto, and then it's 39K
That really doesn't compare well to a TSX........

Wow, seems they shot themselves in the foot on that one
Joker - who doesn't understand why they would only offer the goods in the auto

Yup! Last time when I test drove the IS250 MT, the Lexus salesman just try every single second to talk me to AT which meant... Sorry, I won't be their customer!

Alot of people have been getting the TSX for a couple of hundred over invoice. The 06 has some new goodies (more horsepower, bluetooth, slight styling changes, etc). It's still the best bang for the buck under $30k. Everything is standard in the TSX, whereas the other cars in that price range are practically bone stock (have to pay extra for the features).
I wouldn't wait for the 2008. It's a long time to wait, and so far all the discussions about it are rumors (I believe). Besides, you could trade in the 06 tsx for the 08 later. The 07 won't be as sensible to buy since it won't be much different than the 06, and it'll be too young to trade in for an 08 (you'd be taking the hit for the 07)
Be sure to do your research. Go to various websites and print the quoted invoice prices. Then e-mail around asking for quotes. When I went to get my TSX, I whipped out some of my print outs to show my mom (she's in business, so I figured she wouldn't understand all the finance mumbo-jumbo during signing). The salesperson was curious and started looking over my shoulder, and then he jumped in saying that I'd get close to invoice

i just got my TSX this weekend in PA...i negotiated a 2006 Navi w/spolier installed down to $28,500...it ended up being an unusal deal, cuz the color combo i wanted, they had in stock with a bunch of other extras installed...so in the end i got those too with no additional charge...!
funny thing was, as we sat at one salesmans desk waiting for the quote on our trade, we were flipping through some mags there...in between, we found an internal acura salesman guide to selling the TSX over 250IS...i guess thats a hot comparison....
