Possible to cancel deal?

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to cancel a deal before picking up the car? Everything went through in terms of financing etc and the deal is settled, but I think I want another car than what was purchased. Is it possible to cancel the deal altogether as a consumer?

Yes you can. Even if you have signed the contract, you can still cancel the deal. I know the dealer may say otherwise, but the law is on your side.

I *think* this is correct, as long as no money has changed hands yet, but of course the dealer will want to hold you to the contract. Best bet is to ask a lawyer and find out for sure.

i will call them tomorrow and see how that turns out...
thanks for all the feedback guys....
seeing that i want an acura for another acura I dont really see a problem. Even if they dont have the car that i want, they can get it for me regardless....being an Acura dealership and all.

If you haven't paid anything yet then that leads me to believe you havent signed the real paperwork which you do during the F&I process. After you do the F&I paperwork you pay whatever youll be paying as out of pocket expenses. (whatever they are in your case.)

Basically It doesnt sound like youve bought a car yet.

Not quite sure, it's a hard call on that one! But good luck and hope things work out for the best!

Did you pay for the deposit in cash or by credit card? If by credit card, you might have a better chance of getting it back. If by cash, the dealer may give you a hard time and give reasons that they obtained the car for you, took it off the market so that you could get it, etc. Good luck!
