Honda Canada reports April sales results

TORONTO, May 1 /CNW/ - Honda Canada Inc. today reported combined sales of
15,599 units by its Honda and Acura divisions for April. Sales for the Honda
Division were 13,508 units, and sales for the Acura Division were 2,091 units.
"We have seen an overall softening of the market the past two months,"
according to Kalim Ansari, Executive Vice President, Honda Canada Inc.
"However, we believe the market will gain buoyancy and momentum in the coming
months."
Sales of the all-new Accord remain strong with the addition of the new
Accord Coupe EX V6 with 6-speed manual transmission that went on sale the
beginning of last month. "The Honda Element continued to sell well in its
fourth month on the market and is generating significant interest from a wide
range of buyers," said Ansari.
Acura dealers began selling the all-new 2004 Acura TSX sports sedan on
April 7. The dealers report strong interest for this new product. "The new TSX
is already proving to be a successful addition to the Acura line of luxury-
performance vehicles," he said.
Honda of Canada Manufacturing produced 33,445 units in April, an increase
of 2.2 percent. The plant, which produces the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX, Honda
Odyssey, Acura 1.7 EL and Honda Civic sedan, currently is operating to a
capacity of 390,000 units.
