Non-navi to navi conversion
First off i apologize for not posting on the forum for i don't know how long. Life has been insanely busy the past months. But since I'm between jobs right now, I've decided to take on a project that I've been dying to do for the past 2 years.
Yes yes... the dreaded non-navi to navi conversion. I've read a couple of write-ups on the forum and i've gotta be honest, i had second, third and forth thoughts about it but at the end decided what the heck, better man up and go for it with one eye open.
I expect this conversion to be a little less time consuming though since i don't have to make a custom harness myself. A while ago a guy was offering a custom harness on eBay for around $600. yeah i know!! I kept a close eye on his auctions for awhile and as time passed he dropped the price for the harness (sitting at $499 right now) and after a while he started offering an "easy" install kit for $2400. i even asked your opinions on whether or not this was legit in July of 2007, and didn't receive any favorable responses. Anyways, last month the guy dropped his price for the kit to a very affordable $1600 obo so i jumped on it and bought the kit for $1540, which i think is a good deal since i get the harness, navigation screen unit, DVD drive, DVD-Rom, GPS antenna and sub-display. I've decided to go ahead with this since i don't really like the custom setup look in the TSX and plus with the newest video/audio AUX units out there, the possibilities are endless. Maybe a DVD player (for movies) and a backup camera for now and later on a carputer integration. Who knows?! The only drawback is the primitive screen resolution (480x234) which is indeed terrible for an 8" screen...
Anyways, the kit is on its way so check back later for brief installation pics and any final thoughts after the installation.

Thanks guys. It shouldn't be that bad. The time consuming part i expect will be pulling out some interior panels to hide the wiring given the guy's harness is long enough to mount the DVD unit and antenna in the trunk. I was thinking i might as well do the back-up camera too while i have all the panels out. We'll see. I'll let you know.

Hey mike. The body kit is an Acura OEM kit and the rear spoiler is a Mugen style replica. The Mugen badge groove in the center of the spoiler was filled with bondo, then primed and painted.

Luded,
Its riding on Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Type II. They are suppose to offer one of the most comfortable rides compared to the other adjustable coilovers out there. I've got the ingalls camber kit on the rear suspension too. And yes, the wheels are Black Sportmax 006 rims (18x7.5) Cheers!

Yeah the thing is he doesn't have the harnesses ready. he makes them based on demand and that's what I'm waiting for right now. he said it might be a few more days so no matter what, it's a waiting game after you place the order and pay for it. btw, if you're interested in a kit or harness, I'd suggest you wait until i get mine and see if it really is what he describes in his auction.
