Advice on buying a High Mileage TSX
Is it worth it to buy a 2004 Acura TSX with 265,000km on it? The car has had no major issues with it. No major repairs. Well maintained. Highway km. Interior is mint. Exterior no issues. No accidents. No rust, no scratches. Rock chips at the front of the car.
The price: $8000
Is it worth it? How long will it last for? What issues could arise?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I bought my 05 last year with 24k miles for $13 000. that one is definitely worth ~6 grand. I also assume that it was driven in Canada with its salty roads and went through big temperature changes in the winter (engine bay, at least). Here, in California it's a different story though. Also, AVOID 04 TSX's.

I've owned my 2004 for well over a year now and I can say that the issues are all about how well you take care of the car. Sure there are some things like the center console light issue that's unavoidable (hasnt happened to me yet *knocks on wood*) Any TSX you buy will most likely be one of the most reliable cars you'll ever own so don't listen to these guys who say stay away from the 04 model year.... as for the price, sounds a little high for the mileage. (or kilometer-age) def. check New Cars, Used Cars, Blue Book Values & Car Prices - Kelley Blue Book.

we're just giving him advice on what COULD happen since 04's have some major/minor issues. I would stay away from it.

And I'm just trying to say, from my experience that because it CAN happen doesn't mean it WILL and therefore isn't necessarily a reason not to buy an 04... OP, just make sure you know what your getting into.

^ And from experiences of others, all that was listed DID happen to 04 TSX's and not 05+ TSX's....

The 2004 is the "problem child" of the bunch being a 1st model year. With that high of mileage, I would either avoid it, or try to talk the price lower if you really like the car.

I never said they didn't happen... just that the issues differ from car to car and shouldn't keep him from buying an 04 if he wants one. either you're not getting what I'm trying to say or you're deliberately shooting down my point of view while in the end, it's up to the OP whether he wants to get the 04 or not. personally, I wouldnt buy a car with over 100k miles because by then there is a world of others things you need to worry about besides factory defects. I'd be more worried about whether or not the car was well maintained for those 265,000km than the factory defects which in most cases is an easy fix or replaced due to a recall.

I agree with CoopEuro. I have a 2004 at 107k miles and yes it has had "issues" which have all been addressed (console display, brake rotors). But overall the car still runs like a jewel. The TSX was sold in Europe and Japan as the Accord for two years before being rebadged for Acura for US sale so I think the first year problems are overstated. At the mileage the car the OP is considering, most factory problems will likely have already surfaced and I think one would be hard pressed to say that a failure at that stage is not due to spotty maintenance or plain wear. Maintenance is the key consideration.

wow you already made a thread about this on @curazine and youre getting the same answers here as you did over there. use some common sense man and use the search bar for issues about 04s vs 05s vs 06s etc. $8k is a horrible price for a car that is almost gonna be 6 years old and is the first year model with numerous well documented problems. sorry for ranting but you seem to be lacking in the brains dept
