Hi, New to the club, please forgive newbie mistakes! :smile2: I could really use some advise if anyone could assist!
I have a 06, 6 speed, about 2 years ago in a bad storm my tires were spinning in a lot of rain and POP! The VSA light came on and traction control ceased working. Checked the switch, fuse, etc. VSA light and triangle come on all the time now, cruise control doesn't work, but no check engine light. I have 109k now, this happened at about 98k, I had the clutch replaced at about 100k. I am now scratching my head wondering if the shop could have fixed the VSA at the same time as the clutch replace? (not sure why I am thinking of this now, feel a bit stupid :frown2:
A couple weeks ago my car died while a friend was borrowing it. I found that it would run (barely), VERY rough and wouldn't idle at low RPM, just sputter out. Took it to the same shop and was told the car had been 'beat on' and he thinks its a timing issue. He didn't want to work on it which was odd. Another mechanic found that the timing chain had 'jumped' and re-aligned the sprockets? This did the fix, but he told me not to drive it until he replace's the timing chain. I was quoted $400 for labor and $200 for parts (including an oil and filter change too).
Could the VSA been addressed easier at the time of the clutch replace? I notice lots of folks having/had VSA issue's, but after scouring many threads, never found a solid solution? h1e1l1p
