04 tsx

Hi everyone:

I have a problem about my car that came to my attention lately.
Recently whenever I start my car in the morning or when is cold, there is some type of sound coming from the engine bay. So far I'm assuming is the belt, but I'm not 100% sure. It is similar to some sort of humming sound and it is quite loud. Is that problem going to cause the car to break down and what should I do to find out? It is under warranty? so far I have 95500 miles on my tsx and I have extended warranty. But I want to have my document and proof ready when I hit the dealership so they wont try to rip me off like every other dealership.
Let me know if I need to provide any further information for you guy's to help me to diagnose the problem.

Please advice,
Thanks

I would appreciate if some one can help.

I've been also researching at those old thread and Google at the same time.
So far I think is belt tension-er or belt, recently I've replaced my power steering pump due to leakage.

Open the hood and try to pin-point where the noise is coming from.

Are belt or belt tensioner cover under factory extended warranty?

If you are referring to the Certified Pre-Owned warranty, I do not think it is covered.

Have a look at the tensioner. It has an arrow with some marks. The arrow should be between the marks. If the arrow is outside the marks, its time for a new belt.

I hope this helps. I don't have time for a picture, but hopefully someone else has this for you.

Good luck!

Thank you very much I will take a look at later tonight.
So the mark is on the belt? and the arrow is in the middle?

And it is extended warranty that I purchased when I bought the car it didn't came with the car like the certified pre-owned vehicles.

If you paid extra for a warranty, then its not the CPO that I was talking about. Your warranty might actually cover this, but I doubt it. I would check though if I were you!

The marks you are looking for are actually on the tensioner itself. I found a diagram for you. See page 3/34 for more details.

I hope this helps.

You would have to check the "fine print" in your warranty contract. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think it is covered.
