Rotora 1pc bbk with stock wheel clearance (pics)

So while searching for an answer whether or not the rotora bbk would clear stock wheels, I always got the answer "with spacers they will clear". Well sorta. I installed my stock '06 wheels with T1R 5mm spacers (which are freakin beautiful) only to find that my wheels couldnt spin because the wheels weights were actually hitting the brake line that runs from the back of the caliper to the front (yeah its that tight). Everything barely cleared after I removed the stock wheel weights. I took some poor quality pictures to help show anyone who might also run into this problem. And as far as I know these are some of the smallest brakes available.

And clearance with the 5mm spacers.

And some spacer shots since they had a real nice fit and finish.

Take your wheels to the shop, and get them to take the OEM wheel weights off, or get them to relocate them. Or just put new ones in the inner side of the wheel so its not visible.

I already took the stock weights off. Surprisingly I have no wheel vibrations even with no weights and non hub centric spacers. But I'll try to get them reweighted in a different spot anyway.

good info.
I have a set of those spacers too, they are awesome.
they make most other spacers look like crap.

I like the light blue of the Rotora kit too.
Rotora are the only ones that make a BBK for my truck, so I
think I'll get a set in that light blue color, looks nice.

thanks for actually doing the fitting and getting some good
quality info out on these brakes.

Since a lot of people are commenting on the blue here is a pic with my old wheels, mugens are on the way so I sold these (hence the stock rims).

Gorgeous blue but don't like it with the gold and white combo, kinda clashes but still looks great by itself. At least you got everything to finally fit nice and clean with the OEM rims. Nice work and what a PITA for the weights to get in the way rofl, never woulda thought about that.

Thanks for the info. What are the specs of your old wheels? Did you need the 5mm spacer with those?

No spacers on the old wheels. They were 18x8 +48 and had plenty of clearance.

Tell me about it. I couldnt believe the damn weights hit. I'm just worried now about picking up a rock and getting it caught in between the wheel and caliper.

That wont happen. All you need for clearence is a bussiness cards thickness. But as a percaution you could buy new wheels
