Winter Tire Recommendations (GTA)
I'm going to be purchasing a set of winter tires very soon. I've decided that I'll go with 16", the size will most likely be 205-60-16. I'm looking for recommendations from those with the tsx that drove through winter (mainly last year) and what tire they got, how satisfied they were and where they got them. Any insight is appreciated..thanks.

I've been using Viking Snowtech (by Continental) for the past winter, it's pretty good except high speed stability (140km+ on hwy). It did perform pretty well @ snow storm, light snow, so-so in black-ice like any others. It's not too quiet compare to X-Ice but for the price, you can't beat it.

If you don't mind paying more for extra safety, I would recommend Nokian's. I've used Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 and currently using Nokian WR (all-season, but winter rated). I switched to WR's b/c my first winter with the TSX didn't snow that much, so it was a waste for a full winter tire when it wasn't snowy out. If you are looking for a set of the best dedicated snows, definitely look at the current gen of Hakkas, I think they are at Hakka5 now. At 16inch, should cost around $170/tire and their tread, although soft, wears pretty slowly.

+1
Never had them on my TSX - as I haven't driven through a winter with it yet - but I've had them on a previous car, and they performed better than I anticipated.

I've used Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 for four seasons with very good results. I think I may be down below 50% tread at which point the rubber compound is all-season instead of winter. Haven't noticed any decrease in grip though but we' don't get that much ice here as you do in Canada. I'm running 205-60-16 on Mille Miglia rims. Got them at Tirerack.

That's the size I ran last winter (my very first winter with TSX) and worked out fine.
If you are looking for a set of winters, I may be selling my 16 inch set up with Prelude 5th gen blade alloy rims as I am thinking of going up to 17's just for the looks (tires are only one winter season old, used between last January & early April).
I will PM you if I decide to sell!

Thanks for the offers on the rims guys, but I myself have decided to move up from the steelies look as well..I picked up the RSX-S gunmetal alloys already, now looking for a good tire that wrap on them..let me know of some suggestions still..I've been hearing good things about Gislaveds and they're at $135/each..

Okay I've come across a pretty good deal for either Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 or the Michelin X-Ice xi2, does anybody have suggestions for which is better?

I ran the nokian wr on my stock 17, for 3 winters and they were great. Still nice and sturdy on highway, and great on snow and ice.
Last spring i replaced 2 of the front tires, and was happy with them. Their pricey but to give both good traction in snow ice rain and dry i was happy.

The best deal I've found was tires23. They have the michelin xice2 in 205/60/16 installed, balanced, taxes in for $700. The Blizzaks are $640 and the Gislaveds are $600. I've called some places closer to me and they're willing to match the price. I was also considering just getting the tires from Costco, paying a little more ($60 in total) but getting the costco warranty with them, that includes free fixing of flats, free rotation and balancing for 5 years.

Costco only sells Michelins no? I'm leaning a little more towards the Blizzaks...my dad has them on his G35 and they work wonders...the two of them are apparently rated amongst the top for winter tires (WS60 and older X-ice)

Yeah Blizzaks are well known and reasonably priced, I just heard that when that 50% of the tread is all season or something b/c it is too soft. I'm probably going Gislaved but considering the Dunlop 3D..
