Newbie on wheels
hi guys...
i am looking at a set of Rota's 17x7.5
i have brand new proxes 4 tires that are on my stock 17x7 +55 tsx rims..
tires are 225/45-zr17
and mags available would be 17x7.5 i need your help figuring out OFFset since i'm lowered on eibach sportline/koni yellow (second last perch)
tires now, in front position are clearing fender in back and almost flush if not a little inner in the front!!
Which offset is the safer as i want to keep my wheels inside the
wheel well and i am not using any camber kits!!
thanks a ton!!
..lost in an offset a.k.a Chris

Wheel Offset Calculator:
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.aspv
Plug in your current wheel specifications and new wheel data, and the tool will calculate the new values for inner and outer clearance.
If you want to stay on the conservative end, go with a +48 offset on a 7.5" wide wheel. The new set up with this offset would extend an extra 13mm outwards and give 1mm of additional inner clearance. You wheels will stay within the fender wells, however, you will not have that 'flush' look.

ok..the more your offset is positive the more wheel will
stick out??
and do i need to check the caliper clearance as i go less positive
(if i get that offset figured out)
so..
+55 will stick out of the wheel well?
+30 will tuck in the wheel well?
i could get 17 x 7.5 +45... they would be tucked in.. right? and should fit??

^you got it reversed. The higher the offset the more tucked in the wheels will be. The lower you go, the more outward the will stick out. Of course width will complicate things even more

17x7.5 +40 would look even better. Rota offers a limited offset, so post the one your thinking about runing.

^ thats what i was going to say
7.5 +40 would be pretty flush in the front. low to mid 30s for the offset or some spacers would be nice to have for the rear.

Your stock rims are +55 offset, if it want something similar to stock get around +48 to +55 offset.

Ah, kinda late but you'll be fine with that, esp with the tire size. I have 18x7.5 +42 on 235/40 and no rubbing issues with no finger gap prior to getting my camber kit. Now in spec with very minor rubbing on bumps etc. You will wind up running some negative camber anyways since you don't have a camber kit so you'll clear just fine. +1 on pics

thanks again for all your positive reinforcement... i was kind of worried
since.. well.. at 900$ for wheels i didn't want them not fitting the car
my first issue was fender clearance because of the lowering..
and i like my wheels inside the well..
for pictures, we will have to wait till next year as they should
be in for last week of october and snow shouldn't be too far, i guess i'll be puting back the ''steelies'' before putting the rims..
pictures with the steelies??
thanks again guys!
Chris
