Sound after turning the car off...

After I turn the car off there is a small hissing sound (not leaking). Its almost like the coolant is draining into the reservoir but I'm not sure. Engine runs cool and it comes from the front passenger side (I think), almost below the alternator it sounds like. It lasts a few minutes and is only really noticeable when I pop the hood, if the hood is down it really is hard to hear it. Thoughts? I drive a 2009 TSX 6sp w/ Tech, the car is only four days old.

its teh coolant or the ac I have the same noise but only after my ac has been on and its been working hard. I'm not a mechanic so i'm not sure what exactly it is. But it doesn't happen in the winter. It only happens on warm days.. I can hear it just fine with the hood down though. I also drive a 6 speed with tech

Thanks, I'll run the car later with no A/C on. Since I got it the A/C has been on nonstop since it has been hot and raining.

yep, and if it doesn't make the hissing noise, then its the a/c.. if it does make the hissing noise its teh coolant.

I've been pretty anal about my car since I got it in December especially since i've wracked up 24k miles in 6 months, and I have never noticed the hissing noise on cold days at all. So I don't think anything is wrong.

I paid 29,900, though it is a little confusing since I got an extra $1000 added on the the trade in so it would save me taxes. Otherwise I negotiated a deal of $29,500 w/ another dealer but not as good a deal on the trade in. I also paid about 50% as my down.

I traded in a 2003 Civic that had (at one point) a K20a under the hood. The car needed a new hood, front and rear bumper, exhaust, airbox, wire harness, among other things. There was no spare tire, trunk was bare metal, it was in bad shape and just needed to get rid of it. I sold most of the parts separate and traded in what was left.

What did you pay?

I paid $29,000 before taxes and tags back in december, they gave me $6000 for my 2005 corolla with 60k miles on it in great condition but I owed $4500 on it, and then I put about $8000 down.. but after my dumb ass got all the worthless aftermarket shit i was at about $35000 by the time I walked out the door before downpayment and trade-in I financed $25,000

You got a very good deal dude. When you say aftermarket stuff that brought the car to 35k, was this dealer installed stuff on the TSX?

Gotcha. My best friend used to work for Toyota/Lexus, he got me the Simoniz stuff and we are doing it ourselves this weekend (or next).

yeah its worth it if you do it correctly, but when the dealership does it they charge you about $1000 and they only slab it on to the coats where the simonize company would chek to make sure the compound had been applied to warrant the warranty.. which the warranty in its self is pretty much worthless.. I had it on my corolla because i did it myself along with my boy who was a lot attendant back when iw as selling cars, and my corolla was invincible, but we put about 2 or 3 coats of it on the effer and it worked..

BTW, I ran the car w/ no A/C today (had to wait for a day it didn't rain). No noise. Def the A/C in these cars that makes that sound.
