I agree with checking the manual or online. Also, the majority of things are listed in the engine itself. Like the caps will say what goes where like power steering fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid etc. Just pop the hood and look at the engine and read what the caps say, they tell you pretty much anything you need. If you get the car's oil changed somewhere though they usually check and refill as needed all of the fluids as a courtesy.
