Honda Civic Si Sedan concept

Don't be fooled by the concept title of this Civic, Honda already announced plans to put it in showrooms by fall. This marks the first ever SI sedan from Honda. Powering the SI is a 197-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm redline, mated to a close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission. A limited-slip differential helps drivers make good use of that power.

Finally Honda is getting their act back together, but still this new 8th gen Civics are ugly inside and out IMO. Nice to see they are taking performance seriously again. A true Si sedan, unlike the joke uninspiring 2004-05 Civic Si (Civic EX)sedans they sold in Canada....haha!

I definitely like the look of the exterior, but I agree with Chen... the interiors of the new Civics leave something to be desired.

2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si Sedan Set for Fall Release

Date posted: 07-23-2007

TORRANCE, Calif. — A factory-prepared 2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si Sedan will debut in mid-October, American Honda Motor announced today. The Civic Mugen Si Sedan is equipped with a high-performance suspension, forged aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling and a sport-tuned exhaust system.

"Honda enthusiasts have long been asking for factory-installed Mugen performance products similar to what the company offers in Japan," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. "We're enthusiasts, too, and the ultra-premium Civic Mugen Si Sedan offers exclusive style and elevated handling performance with legendary Honda refinement."

The track-tuned suspension, tested at the Twin Ring Motegi racing circuit in Japan, lowers the vehicle by 0.6 inch with aggressive spring and damper tuning for enhanced handling performance and ride comfort. Compared to the conventional Civic Si Sedan, front and rear damping force were increased between 8 and 24 percent. Other modifications include lightweight 16.98-pound 18x7.5-inch forged aluminum wheels and high-grip BFGoodrich g-Force KDW 215/40ZR18 summer tires. An aero package adds a front spoiler with a sports grille, side spoilers, a rear bumper diffuser and a rear wing.

The sport exhaust system reduces backpressure from the catalytic converter back. The Civic Mugen Si Sedan will be available exclusively in Fiji Blue Pearl and include front and rear Mugen emblems.

The limited-production vehicle (maximum of 1,000 units for the 2008 model year) will have a retail price of less than $30,000 when it goes on sale and includes a full factory warranty.

What this means to you: Get ready for an exclusive and high-performance Civic sedan.

the CSX is overpriced for what it is. I went to an Acura dealer in sauga and they were asking for $39k for a CSX-S, IMO thats too much.

The Mugen Si? Not really.

The Civic Mugen Si Sedan is an upgrade over the regular Si. Not sure how much all the extras will actually translate into performance increases (didn't see any engine upgrades), but the limited production will satisfy those who want to spend the same roughly the same amount as a new TSX.

is it just me or does the one in the picture look better than what we have now? same goes for the SI coupe...

What picture are you talking about? The CSX Type-S or Mugen Si sedan?

If you're talking about the Mugen, then of course it looks better than what we have now... since all we have now is the Si sedan.

ya, the mugen si would basically be an mugen-upgraded csx-s (if it does come to canada).

i didn't read about any engine upgrades either...

i haven't seen many csx's locally. i'm not convinced a mugen csx-s would work in canada...

The Civic SI looks really raw and ricey... the wheels look hideously "ugly". Definitely a "rice-boy" type car...

In the UK, the Civic hatch-back SI, that is one beautiful piece of a car...definitely a lot of european influence on it's exterior design... aggressive but looks really good at the same time.

I can see how some may think it looks "ricey", but I don't see the "raw" part.

I also don't see how you think the wheels are "hideously ugly". You may not like the design, but nothing about them is polarizing.

Plus the backend of the hatchback doesn't seem to flow very well... sort of juts out. I see that the UK version shares the same futuristic dashboard that the US version has.... ugh. At least the UK version has a nice blue tint vs. the red.

nether I'm talking about how the SI looked when it was marketed as compared to the one you buy at a local dealer. just "doesn't seem to look like the picture on the box" if you know what i mean.

I actually meant this Civic from Honda UK

When I said it was hideous looking, it was just my personal preferences, the black wheels were just ugly with the silver paint... and really really ricey, more of a ricey punked-up civic...

Well, if you're talking about the picture that the original poster put up on this thread, that's of the prototype, not of the actual production model, so that's not surprising.

Yes, I know what you're talking about. You're saying that the prototype Civic Si sedan posted above (silver with black wheels) is ricey, while you like the look of the UK Civic.

Like you said, it's all personal preference.

May be that is where it is marketed at... the 18-23 year olds...

The problem with these cars, is that it is really suited for only the track... around the city, the low torque makes it necessary to wind up that sucker of an engine, to like 7000 rpm, before you see any real action, passing some cars..

But who drives like that anyway, everyday on the city roads? Nobody really, except those guys in the ricey punked up cars , like the Civics, corollas... which usually ends up being in the low 20's age group... just like their cars, they need to get "wound" up to get going... too much testosterone...

IMO the EP (02-05) Civic Si hatch looked ricey to me. The new Si coupe and sedan Si looks ricey too with the OEM spoiler/wing. Not my kind of thing, plus the dashboard is ugly!:slant:
