I just hooked up two Alpine Type-R's, two Alpine V12 mono amps', A Kole Audio Power Cap, and Used 0 & 4 gauge wire. My problem is when I have the car on, but the radio off the subs' buzz, but once I turn the radio on, even if the volume is off the buzzing stops. Why is this happening? Also I had to connect the subs using a, line in converter, to the rear two speakers, am I losing alot of performance and sound quality this way? Also how hard is it to replace the speakers in the TSX? Thanks! Keep Tuning!

Im having a similar problem...

when i listen to CDs i get the altenator wheen thru all the speakers... its in time with the rpms.... I took it in, and the service rep told me that they all do that... that every HONDA he ever had wheened..

I said that the loaner I was given doesnt. so long story short.. he is tellin' me Im SOL.

that its normal. anyone know about a TSB or something for this? Kinda sucks to spend 30K for a car that wheens like its got a cheap bestbuy headunit in it.

The car is an '05 auto/navi

any help or direction is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I knew i was right...

well i think ill have to go to a different stealership... they recently replace my nav screen and it was after that on a long road trip that i tried a CD and found the problem... its very noticible... and before they replaced the screen i had not heard it when listening to cds or xm or radio.

any thoughts on how it could have gotten messed up when replacing the nav screen?

I would have to think that, when your radio is off your amplifier is on right? it isn't receiving a signal, while the amplifier is on. causes induced noise. I think?
what did you run the remote turn-on lead to?

absolutely, they could used a bad ground or crossed a wire in the back during installation

i would take it back to the dealer who did the replacement and BITCH!!!!!

if possible take it to another dealer and get a second opinion

the factory warranty should cover this no questions asked, but if these guys can't figure it out try another dealer

I have taken to the other dealer that i hate... but its my closest dealer... we will see, they sound much more confident in figuring it out. they are replacing the amp after going over it all with tech line. maybe monday we will have a solution.

I have the same problem even with the Australian version of the stereo no navi (same as your accord over there)...btw I don't think it is the head unit. I have a stinger line level convertor with soundstream bass driver,250 watt amp and 10inch sub. I am going to try a different line level convertor (I did not have this problem with my last setup I had just a bass level controller (passive) before I got the stinger and soundstream units) which I purchased (peripheral) recently. If this does not work I am going to try a ground loop isolator this should seperate the different levels in grounding I will just have to experiment with this and may require more than 1. I will let you know the results.

well, they replaced the amp... no luck still makes buzzing whine sound...

he dug deeper and altho they already checked the alt. with tech line, he decided to disconnect it while the car was running, and sure enuf the whiine dissapeared completly! so he is ordering a replacement alt, should have it in wed night... hopefully that will cure it.

will keep updating as it goes.

well replaced alt. that didnt fix it...

called tech line again... they said to replace all the grounds,

well.... they replaced the grounds, supposibly it worked... well i came in last night to check it, and its still their. the mech was completly shocked that it was doing it again. so we are still trying to figure it out..... maybe i should trade it in..

anyone know if i can call it a lemon on a stereo???

the lemon issue is a tough thing because it doesn't hinder the vehicle it's just an annoying thing

i'd definately investigate the law and check b/c you've definately had the car in the shop the required amount of times for the same issue

I listen to AM talk radio all the time and don't hear alternator whine.

Normally, you shouldn't get alternator whine. Sounds like the dealer just didn't want to be bothered. Maybe find a better dealer to give your business to?

they tried replacing the wire to one speaker from the head unit to the amp. hoping that it would eliminate the sound to that speaker, if so, they were going to replace the entire dash harness... well, it didnt work.

well, they still have not figured it out, but they are working very hard.

they are going to try replacing the altenator again, but we all doubt it will fix it.

Im starting my pursuit of lemon law-ing my car. anyone else ever had to lemon a car?

so after 45+ days in service... new amp, new headunit/cd changer, all new grounds, new batt, new batt ground, new engine grounds, rewiring part of the dash harness, new altenator, nothing fixed it...

so tech line suggested swapping alts off a good 05 loaner. well the mech didnt feel that was going to fix it, and neither did I. so instead, he talked to tech line about swapping with an 06 loaner instead, since we found multiple 05 loaners and customers cars with the same problem, but had yet to find an 06 with it.

well i am reluctant to throwing 06 parts to fix an 05 problem, but he wanted to give it a try, altho they are completely different part numbers, not a revision, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT... the plugs look the same, so they tried it... and amazingly no more whine... its quiet... like it should be.

well im glad its quiet, but im not happy with teh solution, since there are 05's that don't do it, 05 parts should fix the problem, otherwise there is something wrong electrically with my TSX. what it is, i dunno, and neither do they...

I have put about 2K miles on the 06 alt, and so far so good... only thing ive seen that is odd, is the interference lines in the navi screen again from time to time..

I think they should have some kind of recall for this... obviously, ive found more than enuf in my small 10mile radius that have the same problem, anyone know how to push ACURA/HONDA to do something about this for everyone else?

Also, what do you guys think about using 06 parts to fix 05 problem... think i should complain?? or just live with it??

just wanted to give the conclusion to everyone who was following this, or may have the same problem in the future.

maybe it was the faulty Kole Audio Power capacitor. I had to throw my streetwire cap away because it drained the alternator, and problem was solved.
