One poster over on the E90 BMW board had his motor explode, which is kinda disturbing since the cars have only been on sale for about a week. The 335i is the first gasoline turbo BMW to reach our shores since the 2002 Turbo in 1974, and I'm not sure that was even ever "officially" here. So I'm wondering if BMW might have something to learn about head gasket design. In the meantime...

You meant there is already a blew motor on a 335i? that's why I still sitting on the fence to see what car I should get to replace my old E46. Hope my E46 not dying that soon!

BTW, why the poll is Accord not TSX? I really dun like USDM Accord! if it is TSX or TL, I am sure will vote this option but Accord...

There are rumors of more than one 335i grenading (the index case is a Canadian 335i coupe, one of the very first), but so far only one definite confirmed case. It's a new motor and the first turbocharged gasoline BMW sold in the US since about 1974. Maybe someone forgot to torque the rod bolts, or maybe it's more serious.

Interesting most TSXers seem to prefer the 335i than the combo!

Why not another TSX (ie why pay more for less?) -- it's a great car, I liked it but it's just a little too flashy for an old guy like me.

Acura dropped the 6-speed manual from the base TL for '07, I'd need to buy a Type S and that has a price tag edging up into BMW territory. If I'm paying BMW bucks, I might as well buy the real thing instead of a FWD.

Thanks!

I took out a 6MT 335 Tuesday night. It had 22 miles on it, so I wasn't about to push it, but it felt strong. Lag was not apparent at all. Typical BMW handling/ride, which is say very good. The one I drove had Premium, Sport and heated seats, stickered at $45k, less than some of the remaining 330Ci's on the lot. It's quite an upgrade for the $$.

But from personal experience with BMW service, I guess I'd be wary of a new drivetrain......

I always want to buy myself a miata and then S2000 as a weekend car and then just get a minivan for daily or family use but then I found out I rather driving a sporty sedan that is pactrical and give out 90% of the fun on everyday instead of driving a minivan with 0% of fun for 99% of the time and then 1% of time to drive the 100% fun car. So actually, I am planning to replace my E46 in the coming 2 yr with IS350 (if they have manual) or G35 Sedan (if the look can be as good as coupe) and if both not going to happen then hope the 335i sedan will already sort out all the issues and become affordable (lost of use wise!!!)
