Having a problem Starting 2005 TSX,
It seems sometimes when inserting the key the green key indicator light will
flash continually, when this happens the car will crank but not start.
Sometimes when inserting the key the green key indicator light comes on for a second or two then go off and the car will start.
Sometiemes i have to remove and reinsert they key 3 to 5 times before
the green key indicator will go out and allow the car to start.
I've taken it to the dealer and i was told my battery failed the CCA test so they replaced the battery yet a week later it's doing the same thing again.
I've had no aftermarket mods done to the car.

Anyone experienced anything like this if so, how was it resolved?

Thanks.

I'm just taking a wild shot in the dark. Does the problem occur with both sets of keys? I wonder if the engine immobilizer is having trouble reading one or both keys in the ignition.

Maybe there is damage to the immobilizer chip in one of the keys and that might be causing the intermittent problem? I’m not sure how durable the immobilizer chip is against moisture, humidity, electrical charge, extreme temps, drops and wear/tear.

If both keys are having the same problem, then I don’t know. :donno:

Thanks for your reply mrgold35,
Yes, i too thought it might be a problem with the keys but unfortunately this behavior occurs with both.

i have the same problem occur....it seems like the car doesnt want to start half the time....i was told in the past to get a voltage stabalizer to fix the electrical charge but i shouldnt have to do that with a new car...i havnt asked the dealer yet but thats just what i found out

Thanks socaljdmtsx,

Spoke with the service department and was told that sometimes
having too many keys on the keyring could cause problems.
Now i know people who have 10-15 keys on one key ring, i'm not one of them so i'm quite sure this is not the cause of my problem as i have only one other key on my keyring and none on the backup besides, if it were the key/s i find it strange that both would exhibit this behavior simultaneously, so back in for service tomorrow morning (fortunately still under full warranty).
Will let you know what i find out and would appreciate you doing the same
should you learn of a cause or fix.

Hey socaljdmtsx,

Well it seems the entire immobilization unit had gone bad so
they replaced it as well as the 2 keys, no problems so far but then it's only
been a few hours (fingers crossed) will keep you/the list posted.

If i were you i'd get it looked at as soon as possible as it seems this unit can simply fail after (in my case) only a week or 2 after having become
aware of the problem.

On the morning of my service appointment my car refused to recognize my key and thus would not start, tried at least 50-75 times till i finally gave up.
Called roadside assistance to arrange for a tow and while on hold with them i decided to try the key one last time, after 2 hours of inserting & removing the key it finally recognized it and started so i was able to drive it in and pick up a courtesy car.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, forgot a bit of info that may prove useful.

The part/s replaced were: IMMOBI UNIT/RECEIVER - FP# 39730-SDA-A11
as well as 3 new keys, one a "Valet" key that will allow the
parking attendant to start the car but not unlock any compartments.

Hope this helps.
