Over the past few weeks I've noticed that when I lean back in my seat or lean forward to get out, I hear a spring-like creaking noise coming from the adjustable lumbar support in the driver's seat.

If I "remove" the lumbar support (by pushing the level all the way back), the noise seems to go away. Also if I "maximize" the lumbar support (push all the way forward) it goes away. But if I have it anywhere in the middle, I get this creaking noise.

Anyone else had this happen? I don't find anything when searching the forums...

There is a TSB about this, but it doesn't really have anything to do with the lumbar.

i too have the lumbar squeak.

i've seen the seat squeak tsb, but, it doesn't look like that's the situation with my car.

if you tried to stick your finger into the lumbar support (in the cushions), you'll notice the squeaking disappears. i'm thinking the lumbar frame may be touching some other stuff inside. but without actually tearing the seat apart, i don't know how to remedy this.

This is not the seat base creaking problem - I had that too and my dealer has successfully fixed it by following the steps in the TSB (been fixed for about 3K miles now.) This creaking comes specifically from the lumbar support, not the seat base.

So afici0nad0 have you asked your dealer about it yet? It's not terrible but I've noticed it more and more and it seems like it could be getting worse.

lots of discussion on this. many people have got it fixed under warranty.

On the lumbar creak, not the seat base creak, right? I haven't seen much/any discussion of the lumbar creak - on the other forum you mean?

I had the same exact problem. If you can't wait for the dealer fix, take off back of seat panel (two large push clips behind the pleather map pocket) and then have a friend sit in the seat (with the lumbar out) and rock back and forth and listen for the creak. I hit the complex lumbar mechanism with wd-40 or silicon spray and voila', the creak is gone and has not returned. This is absolutely something the dealer should fix but I was too impatient. Good luck!

no, if i can, i'd rather fix it myself.

the creaking is very annoying. i'm going to try to the DIY posted above...

PsyDoc, how did you remove the seat back panel? I can get my fingers behind it by the pocket, are you saying it just pops off?

so, over the weekend i popped off the rear cover for the back rest pretty easily. there are basically 6 clips that hold the cover in place. you really need to only remove the top and middle 2.

once removed, you'll be able to see the gut of your back rest, and the frame for the lumbar support.

i had my brother sit in the seat and move left to right while i ID'd the source of the squeak. once ID'd, i just let loose on the silicone spray.

result? a lot better than before. the squeaking has almost completely disappreared. almost, because i can still hear a squeak once in awhile. i'll probably lube more of the frame next time.

devore, just get your fingers between the cover and the seat (begin at the top corners) and just pull. the cover will pop out.

I popped it off last night, including the bottom clips. Unfortunately one of the two white plugs is still in the seat (it stayed in the seat and popped out of the cover.) I see these white plugs all over the place - where could I get some more? I think I can get the plug out without breaking it but if I do break it I want to pick up a replacement.

Anyway I have it open and I'd rather use some silicone spray than WD-40 so I'm going to snag some of that tonight and see if it does the trick. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Hi I have this problem too and so too many other Accord Euro owners in Australia. Has any one had this problem fixed under warranty?

is yours under warranty? if so, schedule an appointment with your local honda dealer.

Yes I do. Just keep forgetting to mention it.
