Hello everyone
I have been thinking about this conversion for a looong time. From the time i started finding parts on junk yard and ebay and understanding the electrical and service manual totally took me 5 months. Finally got some times and decided to do the install. I spend 3 days to finish this conversion. This conversion was that hard but takes lot of time for wireing. here's some pics for the install.

Make sure you know what you are doing. there's no return once you started this conversion.

PS. WHEN BUYING THE USED NAVI SYSTEM. MAKE SURE IT COMES WITH ALL THE PIG TAIL CONNECTORS.

Feel Free to ask any question. :yum:

I got my second set navi system for about $600. (the first set is more $$$ so i am going to sell them) Paid around $100 for all the shielded wire and oem hardware. so i think i totally spend around $700 for this conversion. which is not too bad.

i didn;t install the hands free voice command. because there;s some different between 04 and 05 tsx in the cable reel harness (behind airbag). for 04 you can just pay $10 for the cable reel harness, but for 05 your have to paid around $150 because ACURA sell the cable reel harness with audio remote as a set. you also have to pay $200 just for the homelink system. i don;t think i would use those function every often so i didn;t spend extra $300 for those parts.

I have a questions about the navi-conversion... If u install the OEM navi to the car.. how are u goin to track or see the climate control display? Wat i mean is for the non-navi car there's a separate unit for the climate control, but when u install the navi will the climate control display shows in the clock display too? like the actual Navi-TSX?

the sub-display are different between non-navi and navi model. so you have to get the sub-display for the navi model.

I have some questions to ask here, do you need to drill a hole and put that little box on to of your roof? Also, can u mount the navi changer somewhere else(eg. underneath the front passenger since mine is a 04 and the passenger side does not have a power seat which saves time from taking off the panels in the back. Btw, do u think u will install for someone else, since I live in Edmonton, hehe

if it hasn't already been done, is it possible to cross-reference this thread to the diy section as a sticky?

you don;t need to drill any hole. those holes are already there for non-navi tsx. i was thinking to install the dvd unit in the glove box so i don;t have to remove all the panels in the back. but i would like to do it as the factory way, that's why i run the wire to the roof and mount the navi there. i am willing to install this for u. pm me for more info.

thanks

We only keep the most important threads as stickies. We can't make each good DIY a sticky, because then you'd have a lot of stickies taking up space. But this thread qualifies as a good DIY, and I added it to our DIY section, as I already stated in the earlier post in this thread.

For any DIY or other FAQ, be sure to visit our official DIY Main Menu: http://www.tsxclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14866
(this one is a sticky)

Genius yes...but looking at what's involved, I'll stick to a portable Garmin Nuvi
