View Full Version : My tsx is a lemon.... i think?

So I bought my TSX in November 04, it's an 05 TSX w/t Navi and I've had nothing but problems with it and I'm at the point of being fed up with it. I've brought it in so many times that the service department knows me by name, and apparently some of the techs know 'my car' as well. Keep in mind my car is only 2 years old.

Problem #1 - Rattling noise in the dash.
The tech said that the wires in the dash weren't properly connected and the wires were rattling against metal anytime i went over a bump.
- Courtesy car was given

Problem #2 - Navigation acting up
Brought my car in saying that my navigation is giving a 'dvd disc read error', so the tech put in a new DVD player, fired it up, it worked. Put in my old DVD player, fired it up, it worked, tech/service department said to keep an eye on it, if it acts up again to call them
-Courtesy car was given

Problem # 2 continued - 1 week later
Problem happenning again. Now the screen doesn't work at all and neither does my aircon/radio/anything in the center console. Brought it back in and they said 'ok, we'll get you a new one.' Wasted another day of work.
-Courtesy car was given

Few days later I get my car back, and the service department tells me 'You should be glad your DVD system is under warranty, cause it costs $5k to replace' (or some rediculous price like that)

Problem #3 - Driver side window won't roll up
Self explanitory. Parts were NOT replaced, just lubed. I told them I want the parts replaced cause I knew it would probably happen again. See next problem.

Problem #4 - Heated seats died, Driver and passenger & Driver Windows Auto up/down doesn't work
Both seats die (figures since NOW is the coldest weather of the year). Dealership says that both sides are dead, and they need to order a part in, and it would take 1 hour per seat to fix. Window doesn't work properly again
- Getting a courtesy car on Wednesday

So within 2 years I've had 4 problems with my car, some major, and my car is only under warranty for another year or 13,000km's. I'm seriously starting to wonder if I should be buying an extended warranty for all of these problems cause I can pretty much guarantee you that something is gonna go wrong once my warranty is out. I'm not blaming the dealership because they have been quite helpful, but it's me having to buy an extended warranty because of these problems.

My question is, do I have a valid complaint to Honda Canada with all these problems? A few of my friends have the same model TSX as well and they aren't experiencing ANY of these problems I'm having.

What would you guys do in my situation?

Damn man, I had NO PROBLEMS at all with my car, except the occasional rattling in the door if i play music too loud. Otherwise, it had been fine to me for the last two years. I have the exact same car, without Navi....

yeah it's just frustrating.

I know the TSX is a good car, everyone I know that owns one doesn't have any problems. I'm guessing my car was built on a Friday lol

I'm just pissed cause I'll have to fork out $1700 for the extended warranty

Sorry to hear. Maybe you can file a complaint to Honda Canada and see what happens. So far no problems with my TSX. Then again... I only owned the car for 1.5 months and it only got 4,000kms on it.

If it were me, I wouldn't waste my time writing letters.
Dump the car and buy another one.
And then let's hope that the new owner doesn't register on this forum. :surprised

You think I should write a letter to the dealership or go over their head and straight to Honda Canada?

Goto Honda first. Save all documentation and coversations. If they won't do anything..you need to follow the arbitration method because we have no lemon laws in Canada.

I got a feeling you won't get anywhere because the car is still under waraanty and the dealer has fixed the problems.

that sucks!!
but i work as a tech at nissan and the warrenty is good idea.
but keep in mind that not all things are covered under extended warrenty. and that you will still have to pay a deductible depending on the plan of extended warrenty you get.

You should be able to re-program the auto up and down for the window yourself. I did it myself a while ago - I don't remember the exact steps but it's in the owner's manual. It's just a few steps.

Unless you get an Acura warranty which covers basically everything. It's like extending the factory bumper to bumper warranty with no deductible. I got it..7 year warranty which also inclused the acura roadside assistance.

well maby acura is different
but on nissan even with the extended nissan warrenty not everything is covered but
sales tells you that every thing is covered. just so that they can sale on the warrenty(they get more money when they sale the extended warrenty plans). lots of customers are miss lead due to sales and just get pissed off when ther are told that there car wont be covered under extended warrenty. and have to pay out of there pocket for the repaires.
