On Saturday around 5:30pm heading downtown on 404. Just before 401 all lanes slowed down, direct in front of me a van braked hard and changed lane. By then I saw all cars were stand still and I'm still doing 110km. Step on the brakes hard and I thought I heard skid noise(snow tire), not wanting to hit the car in front I turned to left lane(401 west)which there were no traffic. Just as I thought I was in the clear I heard a big THUMP, but not very hard. Stop on the shoulder and a lady from a mid 90s Buick came up and asked if we are OK(daughters and wife). Every thing is fine, thanks for seatbelts and CHILD SEATS!! She hit my rightside of the bumper with her left front. Left headlamp broken, hood and fender bend a little and bumper scratched up. My rear bumper got lots of deep scratches but did not crack. But the reflector was broken and the right exhaust tip(skunk 2 from CK122)is all bend and the muffler itself is facing to the right. Sorry no pics. She offered to paid for the damages and it's going to be $900 for the bumper and her husband who works for Speedy fixed the exhaust. Not perfect yet but he'll adjust it later when the bumper is done. Going in on next Tue. Hope all come out fine.

Dang looks like a lot of people are getting into rear end accidents. Even I was in one around the 15th of november.

I was actually up around those highways saturday from 11- 7

Sorry to hear that, glad you and your passengers are okay. But sounds like you cut in front of her and then she hit you. Glad she's picking up the tab

That is what I thought at first that I had cut her off. But after I look at the contact points of the cars, I believe she was right behind me when I jam the brakes. She just could not brake fast enough or that Buick just too heavy and short on brakes. If I had cut her off my driver side rear would have hit her passenger front, but it's the other way around(my passenger side rear and her driver side front) It appears to me that when I switched lanes while hard on the brakes she got me. It could been avoided If she had a lighter or smaller car with better brakes, I think. I also begin to think this car is bad luck as well, but I got another 2 more years to go. What can I do? I'm open for suggestions. Also I did not report any of the mod to insurance.

So you braked hard while changing lanes in traffic? It doesn't matter if she had a lighter or smaller car...you cut her off while braking which is just as bad. The car going straight is not at fault here..you changed lanes while braking hard. Your lucky you never went through insurance and the police didn't come cause it sounds like you were at fault here.

Anyways...get rid of it. The repairs wil come back to haunt you.

I didn't cut her off. She was going straight behind me, not beside me in left lane. She would have call the cop if she thinks it's my fault. If I didn't switch to left lane she would've hit me hard and for sure I'll hit the car in front of me as well. It could've been a lot worse.
