I have a 2004 TSX with about 29K miles on it. Over the past few months, I noticed that when in idle stopped at a red light with the trans in drive, the car makes a loud rattling noise, but it goes away when i move the steering wheel but recurrs again a second later. But, when I accelerate, the noise goes away. This rattling noise only occurs when the car is in drive and my foot is on the brake ( when sitting at a red light). I don't know if it is coming from the steering column or any steering component or the dash. Does anyone have any similiar problem like this? I was reading other problems similiar to this and the causes were either bad trans axles, air bag, loose bolts in the steering column or engine mounts. I hope this isn't something serious. Please provide me with some insight! Thank God there is a forum like this!

Mine did something like that. In my case, it came from the steering column plastic 'clam shell' thing. They really never fixed it right, they just replaced the parts. At first they put foam tape where the plastic shell touched the column but it caused the piece to have a gap and eventually started to rattle and buzz again. It was under warranty and they worked hard to find it but all they do is replace parts with the same parts so It's frustrating sometimes because it's not a bad part, it's a design flaw. That clam is too close to the column internals.
Good luck.

Do a search...there are plenty of already discussed issues with rattles/vibrations! Good luck!

Mine has the same at only 12K. I'm used to the vibration. The rattle is what bugs me occasionally.
As far as I know, it's all normal. Nothing to worry about.

it's weird the rattle/vibration only comes on when the trans is in either drive or reverse, but goes away when shifting in neutral and park. wondering if it could be a trans problem?

Does it happen ALL the time ? where you located ?
I have the same as you described, at stop, idle, in D...but mine is when engine is cold.

it happens on and off. mine is the opposite, it starts making that vibrating noise after i drive it for a while when the engine is hot. when i take a drive for over 10 miles and then park the car, that's when the vibrating starts. sometimes it's a barely noticeable vibration, but other times it's really loud.
