I think the starter in the TSX just sounds funny. It sound like a granny starter compared to other cars for some reason.

i have the same problem, especially when i have my radio on for an hour in the car. takes an extra second to start the car

Its normal. The reason for the supposedly rough start is that the starter doesnt kick in immediately so that it actually uses less gas to start the car.

i thought it was because i kept my engine on idle way too long and it drains and screws up the battery :s
btw 100th post :)

your battery has less cold cranking amps the colder the temperature is, that and the fact that your oil is a bit thicker the colder it is are the only reasons that your car is harder to start. It has nothing to do with the starter other than the fact that it's not getting as much juice as it does when it's warmer out.

b'coz all the Honda i own never face this problem before. so i though it's the starter problem

I have also heard that the OEM battery sucks.
Have you guys looked at it? It is a naked battery. My sister's camry has a bigger battery with a battery blanket around it, from the factory. It has been 4 years, still going strong on the original battery. That is impressive.
TSX crap battery is going to see the trash can by next winter. OPTIMA battery is good.

Well, it snowed in Texas last night and this morning my started sounded funny trying 2 start in this cold, cold weather. But then again, my service advisor says that I need a new battery soon b/c it's been 2 yrs. already.

Mine's a 2006 5AT with about 2300 miles on it. I've had it for about two months. I have experienced the EXACT same issue and it's happened about 12 times (I started counting after I new something was up) since I bought it. Dealer told me until it's "consistent", there's nothing they can do.
Have you talked to the dealer about yours?
The interesting thing is that it almost always starts right up with no problem after the second try (take out the key, put it back in and start).

ok folks well I'm glad that its just not my car.mines does that same thing but I think its do to the weather I let it sit out for a while and if its cold out it does it.so what I learned is that instead of turning the car on rite away I let all the dash lights come on then I give that secong turn it seems to turn rite on even if its cold try that see if it works for you ok I'm out one. ill
p.s it doesn't do that when its hot out,try changing your spark plugs too maybe in need a tune up I did mines on my own and works much better!! bbbbb5

I'm glad I read this thread, my 04TSX does the same thing... My wife is like "Something is wrong with the Acura, you need to take it in!"
I'm glad to know that its a common thing on the TSX.
