I'm not sure whether it's my car's problem or if it's the road, but today while coming home, I was getting into the center lane to make a left turn when my brakes got this grinding noise and my brake pedal started vibrating. I thought it was the abs at first, but I don't think I saw any lights going off and I was going at a low speed. The noise and feeling of the brake pedal occured as I crossed the bumps on the road.
This has actually happened before several times in different places where I decelerated slowly but still got that grinding noise and shaking feeling in the pedal.
My question:
Is it just the abs kicking in cause I braked too hard or a pebble stuck in the brake pads or something wrong with the abs system?
thanks

could be time to replace the pads.

If this only happens when going over bumpy/uneven road surfaces, I would say it's the ABS kicking in. I realized that the ABS in the TSX is damn sensitive, mine goes off a lot when braking over poor road conditions, even at slow speeds.

I haven't seen my ABS kick in once yet. And I remember someone complaining about its over-sensitivity. So if that's the case, you may want to have the dealer check it out.

I had the same concern on my brakes making noise/vibration. I asked the service department check the car but said everything was fine.
Last couple of months, I've noticed it only occured when I was going over a bump causing wheels to be lifted or on icy/snowy roads.
I concluded it was just ABS kicking in. I believe ABS sign does not come on unless there's something wrong with it.
I don't think there's anything to worry abuot.

If it is the ABS kicking, you should feel the brake pedal vibrating and grinding feeling. It should be definitely noticable and no light comes ON. If it is only a slow constant vibrating and you can only feel it during low speeds, it may be that one of your rotors is warped.

I've had my ABS work only on very few seperate occasions.. once it was rainy and I just saw a Stop sign when I was coming up to it and I decided to jam the brakes and the vibrating and grinding feel on the brake pedal made it obvious... and to my luck, a cop was there waiting for people to run stop signs..! The other time was when I was driving slowly on snowy icy roads, and the abs practically doesnt do much on those kinds of roads anyways.. better to use threshold braking

thanks guys. the car doesn't do that anymore, so I'm guessing that the problem's gone now. maybe it was just the wet ground and the rain.
