VSA/traction noise

should i suppose to hear any sound while the traction/VSA kick in? i hear some weird sound like grinnding metal sound when the traction kick in when i start going on first gear(it's snow like hell in alberta canada, so it's super icey).
the VSA light is flashing all the time

My VSA was flashing like mad this morning (i love driving MT in snow), but i didn't get any noise.
