I feel like I've been posting like crazy lately. lol

I tried searching for this but couldn't find it.

I forgot to measure the stock ride height (duh) so I have no idea how much I am lowered.

Can any of you with stock tsx let me know the stock height (distance from fenders to top of the wheels, or to the center of the wheels)?

Thanks a bunch.

I already did an alignment, but now it looks like rear is not lowered enough :(
I hope I don't have to do an alignment again... I am guessing I need like 0.5-1inch more at the back...

I read on this forum or the other forum about riding on bumpstops with H&R CO b/c of European standards (must have same length with stock shocks etc) if I go too low. Currently, I have ~4.25" all around between top of the fender and top of the wheel (stock 17" wheels). I can't put my fingure in horizontally, and there's very little wheel gap (if any).

Last night, I jacked up the car and saw that bump stop was very close to the top of the top hat (coulnd't see it clearly, b/c of the spring).

I hope I am within the recommended range by H&R and not riding on the bumpstops.

It'd be great to know your height also, assuming aspec lowers ~0.5-1" I can go on from there.

do you have pics of the bump stop and its distance from the top hat?

I don't have pix of the bumpstop (yellow rubber) alone, but the pic of the whole coilover is in one of my thread. What I did was to put everything together (with spring compressor) and put it on the car. While it's on the car and weight is on the wheel(on the ground), you can tighten the top strut nut.

I currently have almost no wheel gap and bumper stop seems very close to the top hat.

Do you have the measurement by a chance while you are stock?
I tried to make four corners the same (distance from top of the fender to the top of the wheels) but it's not as easy as I thought. I have about 0.2" difference in left/right.

Plus, do you want it even when you're out of the car, or while you're sitting in the driver's seat?

Ok, on a slightly related topic, I'd kind of like to know if my stock suspension has settled over time, as I think it looks sightly lower, but probably not. But it might be nice to get someone else's measurements too.

I made 3 measurements each, from the outside lip of the fender: to top of center cap, to top of rim, to the approx. top of the tire (hard to get exactly, but wanted to get the actual gap).

LF: 14 1/8" / 6 1/8" / 2 3/4"
RF: 14 1/16" / 6 1/16" / 2 1/2"
LR: 13 1/8" / 5 3/16" / 1 7/8"
RR: 13 1/4" / 5 3/8" / 1 7/8"

That's about "4 fingers" in the front and about "2.5 fingers" in the back.

I have an '05 with over 25K miles.

I would have expected most (stock) TSXs to be like mine and have a lot more gap in the front than the rear.

My car is stock 2007. I put a ruler on top of the tire and the front gap from the bottom of the ruler to the fender is 2.5". The rear gap is 2.25" No passengers in car.

I've set my left/right so that the lower spring seats are at the same height on the thread. However, they have different height (1 finger vs. 1.5 fingure gaps) at the rear. Is this normal? It's not a MAJOR difference, but noticible by eye.

Dont know whos TSX is on the left, but it is bone stock. (at least what I can see on the outside) It the only other TSX I have seen in my home-town, and it just happends to be the same CGP.

Mine was a little lower ( 1/4") but I had to raise it up so I could clear my Grandparents driveway. I may go back down later.

First picture doesn't tell much, if you want, Dinoc, I can take it again with a better angle/height to show how much gap I have.
Next 4 pix should show you how much I lowered and how much gap I have. As you can see, I have around 1-1.5 finger gaps all around. I found a document telling me how low the lower spring perch should be from the top strut nut. (you had ones for the rear as 265-300mm but I found that info for front too) I am going to do one last measurement and adjust accordingly. I have written down in the car, I'll give u the numbers tomorrow. Hope this helps.

ciao

Dinoc, i was wondering, why don't you take it to the dealership for the metal noise?
If they find out the problem is, let's say, a welding problem, wouldn't they fix it for you? Or tell you where the noise if coming from?

dinoc

I've already took it to the dealer and to other two workshops ... no one can figure it out where that sound is coming from. The strange part is not reproducible all the time, sometimes can be heard sometimes not.

Any progress in solving the issue?
I tried to hear it carefully, and I thnk I can hear it also at the rear passenger side whenever there is sudden load change in the suspension. (potholes, getting off at speed bumps etc). :(

Sorry to hear that. Could be the camber kit to make that noise ?

I'll take it tomorrow to the workshop (again) to check everything , Ingalls camber kit and rear suspension.
I was thinking to change the rear-right suspension with the rear-left one - tough not sure if interchangeable or not , any idea ?

ebell

They are interchangable. I remember fronts having left/right specific springs, but not rear. Maybe I should try this also...

I should get someone to drive my car and sit at the back seat to look for the source of the noise.

I thnk the noise is metal sheet to metal noise. It wasn't squeak from rubber etc. (camber kit). I am thinking about taking it in to check if the welding is okay at the rear right to the dealer.
Would they say no, b/c I have aftermarket suspension?

dinoc

Not sure about their policy ... but ask them nicely to take a look, drive the car with someone on the back seat to hear that noise ... maybe they can find the source of noise.

Not 100% sure on this, but it feels like the noise is much less with rain. :donno:
