I hope I don't sound too much like I'm trying to be people's mother, but..... :D

The best way to save gas money with the TSX is to drive more efficiently. Maybe it's the TSX in particular, or maybe it's cars in general, but from the Nav's trip computer (which shows moment-to-moment gas efficiency in addition to the cumulative calculation), I've learned how hugely sensitive the MPG is to how you drive -- at least on the TSX. And it's much more than I ever imagined.

BTW you don't have to tell me that this is apples and oranges -- I know that trying to save $$ on gas purchases doesn't mean you want to drive any differently. But for anyone who's trying to save a bunch of pennies, you could probably save a lot more than you think by how you drive.

Just FWIW.

Larchmont, who knows he sounds like people's mother a lot of the time.

Just FWIW.

NYMEX wholesale gasoline for June delivery closed at $1.44 yesterday.

I went out this past weekend to try and find the extremes on the gasoline price range, (deciding if/when I should sell my oil stocks and maybe short some crude) and I easily found gas outside of both extremes of the "pricefinder" ranges. I've been filling up at the deep-discount Costco station lately and there has been NO WAIT. Ever. I'd conclude that gasoline prices ain't near any point that would make most people want to conserve.

I've also read that "large" SUV sales were waaaaay down. OK, I'm looking for a car for my daughter, gasoline is a trivial part of the cost of a car for a teen, so I thought I'd go check out prices. Not a chance. Massive, gas-guzzling SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Hummer still sell above the invoice price. Gas-sipping Honda Accords still sell below invoice.

Bob Shiftright who swears he doesn't recall that he ever even met her, and who will resist any efforts to obtain a sample for any of that DNA testing.... :)

I think you'd have a little problem with deniability.

But if the sales are lagging, why aren't the prices coming down?
Or, aren't the sales lagging?
Or if they are, that would seem to mean prices will come down?
Unless they stop lagging......

It's great being smart, isn't it? :D

It's true that on a constant-dollar basis, the current price of gasoline is NOT historically high.

Too bad that the website only gives regular unleaded prices. Just because a gas station may have the cheapest regular unleaded price, doesn't mean that it'll have the cheapest premium unleaded price.

Don't most places go by 10 cent increments/grade? Then again, I only use Amoco...so I wouldn't know about other stations..

Maybe they're lagging, but gas-sipping Accord prices are lagging even more.... I mean, the dealers AREN'T getting sticker price anymore. :)

What else can you buy that's cheaper than it was in the "Roaring Twenties". OK, personal computers, microwave oovens and airline tickets. But what else? :)

CERTAINLY not college tuition, of that I can assure you!

No. I've seen differences range anywhere from 10 to 20 cents per gallon.
