What do you think?

Looks good.. did you just use t he existing socket thing from TecToyz LED and just change the individual LED bulbs?

I cut the socket from the tectoys bulb and glued it to my board. Easier to get my board in and out that way.

It looks like you used 3 resistors... why did you use 3? Why not just one?
MTL-TSX

Originally i only had 2 resistors, but that was because i thought the leds had a voltage of 2.1, these white ones have a voltage of 3.4 so i needed to make a change to the circuit.
1 Resistor would not be sufficient, and would not be good for the leds. The ideal circuit should have 5 resistors for a led array of 5x2. Hope im making sense lol.

yes you are haha.. the reason is that the most LED's i've ever put in a circuit is 3 LED's.. for the Wii sensor bar lol.

great job
mine is exactly like the one you used to have, it's not as evenly distributed as your new one, but I like it the way it is. Your new one looks much better, though :)

Thanks Peregrine, i must note though, in the pics it fills it up nicely, however in reality you will see the individual leds which i like. The Tec toys one you will see a big circle in the middle.
I think i will make a set in blue just to compare apples to apples.

I really like this look however i dont know that i'm electronically inclined enough to figure it out on my own, any way you can put together a quick DIY and possible sources for materials?

I will work on that as soon as i can, I am currently wiring up my LED tail retro. Its almost done but i only have the passenger side inner tail.
Thanks

MTL-TSX, will you make a LED circuit board for the rear dome light too???? I still have those yellow @ the rear, the one I found has a thick circuit board and will not fit the space @ the rear. Not sure which one to purchase.
MTL-TSX

Hmmm i could make one for the rear dome light, but i don't think regular sized leds would fit. I will need to buy SMT(surface mount) leds for that.
I believe they sell some nice dome lights on superbrightleds.com which are much better than the tectoys ones.
But i will see what i can do.

Yeah, I wanted to go to Julep and check other cars out. But I'd feel bad for my tsx b/c it's nowhere close to say that it's "modded". lol
I am getting my rsb installed tomorrow :)

Don't worry about not being "modded" its cool, trust me, there are much worse things there than a stock TSX like fugly modded sunfires and cavaliers.
Which RSB you got? I have had my comptech one almost since i bought the car, but the bushings died so i am running on ES bushings, which died as well, so i need to get new ones.

Maybe I should drop by. Thu 9 sounds okay since I finish soccer ~at 8.
Man, how fast/spiritedly are you driving the car to blow off two sets of bushings? :grinno:
I got my rsb from H&R to match the co I have. I like having things from one source. rrrrrrrrr6
Do I need new endlinks? I hope they can get the rusted nuts w/o torching them. Those rubbers on endlinks look volunerable.

Heh well the sotck Comptech bushings are known to die, i dont know why my ES bushing dies, i think im too heavy :( Though i do like to take curves every so often, esp now since im dropped.
To my knowledge you shouldnt need new endlinks, but i did instlal my rsb like a month after getting my car from dealer.

Hi guys! im back from a little hiatus! Since having dones the whites ones above i made another set but in blue, which look much better!
A quick question/poll.
If i were to make these for members here who would be interested? (obviously i wouldnt sell anything without mod approval).
As far as price i am not sure i will have to calculate my costs and time to make these, but they will not be pricey at all. Mind you, you would be getting 2 "bulbs" which contains 10 Superflux leds each (I only have Superfluxes in Blue, Red, and Amber) I have white in regular 5mm leds.

WOW MTL-TSX, where have you been all this time?????
I haven't seen you on forum since summer, did you went on vacation or sth? Did you still remember the project (rear light) that we were talking about before? I've got everything here, waiting... lol
I've even went to Mont-Tremblant to ski on New Year, should have contact you to drop off those light.

Chuson! Sup man I'm still alive, as i said just lost interest in doing all this stuff for a bit, spent more time with the GF, work and a lot of other non-car/non-electronic projects.
I actually bought a pair of tails from a member on one of the forums (don't remember which one) I didnt forget about you. Once i am back in the groove i'll give you more info, or if you want you send them to me now lol.
I need to start mucking around with what i have again before i start on yours. Right now, the hardest part is still taking the tails apart... and then putting them, back neatly.

i would be interested in the blue led's too
MTL-TSX
01-14-2008, 03:35 PM
Rough Estimate on cost would be about 30$ plus shipping (Pricing may change but not drastically)
Price includes materials and time involved to make them since i am making them myself.
I could also make custom ones, for example if you wanted more than 10 leds (5 on top 5 on bottom) i could potentially fit 20 LEDS but it would be extremely bright.
I can make them in the following colours: RED, BLUE, WHITE, AMBER and if really wanted, UV.

Here are some pics of the blue ones. The ones i would make for you guys will have a more professional feel as i would print my own circuit boards.

Sorry for the quietness as of late. My friends Father passed away so i havent much time to do anything. Though i am still waiting on some parts so i can begin production of these door lights.
The board is designed, just need etch them out now.
Also, they will most likely be 12 LEDS now, as this was easier to make look symmetrical.

Ok Guys, another little update on these door lights.
As i said i have the design made i just need to get everything etched. However i am now looking into getting the PCB's made by a company in China. This would reduce the labour time by me greatly and should reduce the price a bit.
Also the boards will look more professional, with this, i could also sell them as kits so if people wanted to put it together themselves they could.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.
Approved for forum members exclusive sale.
Vivek,
Go ahead and post up your expected price for each of these units (per door).
Regards,
Noel
