I installed my SNHOND3 along with a ground loop isolator a while back... Here's a pic of where I placed them. I tied them in with a couple of zip ties..

Great work. But for those of us that are perhaps less skillful, do you know of any national retailers/stores who have this product, or can get this product, and install it. I really want to get one for my TSX so I can connect my ipod. Thanks.

hmmm...I'm not sure if there are any local places that carry it and install it... but there's really nothing to it... just pop out the cubby, use a mirror to find the connection, plug it in, secure it to your car and pop the cubby back in.

Maybe just have your dealership pop it out for you? and you plug the thing in yourself? Or maybe have Circuit City do it?

tsxmike: allows you to have sound from RCA cables...

richmar: it is very easy... trust me i dont know what im doing.... and i did it when i had my tsx... should take you no more than 2 minutes... grab onto the empty compartment.. pull out (you wil have to use a little force...there are other threads showing more detail if i remember correctly).. then it just plugs in!

So where exactly does this thing hook up to?? Is there a plug in in the back or under the factory system that the SNHOND3 plugs into?? Have any pics of the connection? THanks

yup...it's on the back of the system. You have to use a mirror to see the connection. I've got a pic of it...I'll post it up when I get home and find it.

Just curious, what is the ground loop isolator?
Ground Loop Isolator (GLI)

it helps get rid of the humming caused by other electronics on the car.

Some don't need it, but I got one just in case. I think there were a couple of people who said the GLI caused humming, and it went away when they removed the GLI.

Hey guys, i hav a tsx with navi, does that matter? Is there a special unit made just for the tsx with navi or do they all use the same? If it does require a different, how harder is it to install? Thanks in advance!

This is the one I bought for my car, it's made by soundgate: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/logjam/sounsnhond3.html

If you look on there, they've got a nother device made by Blitzsafe that's for the TSX with navi....they also mentioned that if you have factory XM, you have to disconnect it, but I am unable to confirm if that is correct or not.

I wish I could be of more help with the TSX w/navi :(

thanks tsx r us, that was a big help, i tried rippin out my console and it's a piece of cake, so im on my way to ordering a unit that supports navi which was like $39 more for this p.o.s. I checked my tsx and i found no empty slots like the ones in your pic, but there is an occupied slot which i unplugged and it was almost identical to yours so im assuming that it's the correct slot. By the way i hav a tsx with navi so i guess that navi occupies that slot. When i unplugged it noticed that the touch screen no longer works (another reason y it's probably for the navi). plus i looked the aux unit up online (the one that supports the navi) and it has two plugs (male/female) and so i guess one plug from the Aux unit goes to your Head Unit and the old wire that used to be in your Head Unit goes into the extra slot provided by the Aux Unit.

anyways thanks for checking, greatly appreciate it!

by the way, ur pics loaded correctly -=) and very detailed!

awesome!! I just looked at the other and yeah, the other end is probably for you to plug in the connector for your navi so you get to use your navi and have the aux input. Tis good!

Don't forget to let us know how it works...start a new thread if ya have to :D

"I need this unit because I want to..."

I need this unit because I want to install an MP3 player... or XM radio.

WITHOUT using an FM modulator... so you get clear crisp sound from your audio inputs.... using the aux. function built in your radio (on the radio there is a CD/AUX button, if you have this unit installed, you can hit the button and it iwll go to your cd player, hit it again and it will take the audio input from the snhond3 - which is getting the sound from anything like your mp3 player (ipod maybe) or xm radio that some people have installed)

Just one thing - you'll probably want to either get a car adapter for your MP3 player (power-wise), or install a amp between the SNHOND3 your MP3 player.

My iRiver at max volume is barely audible at highway speeds even when the stereo is at around 30/40.

I bought a small headphone amp, and now I can play my iRiver at 14/40 and my stereo at 20/40. Since my iRiver has around 12 to 13 hours of battery life at that volume, I don't need a power adapter for it.

Hey guys I noticed that a lot of you listed a lot of electronics that can be used with this input. My question is what if you have many electronics (ipod, irivera, xm, mp3 player, etc), and what is the best way to hook them all up (lets jus say ipod AND xm)? What would be a good splitting device where u can switch btween the products? Well if anyone knows, please share. Thanks

There are two ways you can do this.... you can get a splitter for the audio cables... and be able to hookup 2-3 devices. The catch is, you MUST turn off the device you arnt using at the time. So, for example, say you have yoru ipod and xm... you need to turn off the power to the XM in order to listen to the ipod.

That is because if you leave both on, and audio is playing, the sound will overlap each other, so basically you will hear two different songs at the same time.

I ams ure there are other devices (probably from somehwere like radioshack) which you can push a button, 1 - 2 -3 or 4 and cut off the audio from all the devices except the number which is pushed in. This idea would not be very useful because you would have to find a place to install such a box within reach of your arms... kind of hard to do.

check out crutchfield.com they have a lot of audio stuff.

The Dension (www.dension.com) ICE-link PLUS has a gain adjustment to allow for the low volume output. The adjustments are 0.5V, 1V, 2V, & 4V. The 4V worked for the TSX HU.

What type of headphone amp did you get? - do you think it can manipulated to work for the xm radio? After i nstalled my xm radio the output level is stll not where i like it!!

either way i plan on getting a mp3 player and it would be a good tip for future reference.

And thanks to all who gave me shond3 install tips and pics - the installation went smooth. :D

I have the Rolls MX22A, though I'll probably be upgrading to a MX28 soon. The 22 is a mono while the 28 is a stereo mixer.

I'm not sure about XM radio - if it has RCA plugs, I'm sure it can plug into one of these amps.

Sounds like you have to disconnect the XM...

Here's what it says on their website: If vehicle is equipped with factory XM, factory XM MUST be disconnected.

HEY GUYS I HAVNT BEEN HERE IN A WHILE, woopz sorry bout the caps. But ya I finally got my SNHOND3 crap. THe version made for the 04 tsx WITH a navigation. One problem, it doesnt work? Everything was plugged. I unplugged the factory cable, plugged in the SNHOND3's cable into the head unit, and plugged the factory cable (the one that i unplugged first) into the Y adapter of the SNHOND3 unit. Then I plugged the RCA cables into the SNHOND3 and the other end to my ipod. Pressed the AUX button a million times and nothing happened. My navigation still works normally, but the AUX button no work. Now do I have a defective item? Or am I missing something, say maybe I need to plug sumthing in to the CD changer slot on the SNHOND3 unit?

Please help, thanks in advance!

Hello, first time poster.

Is the adaptor made by Soundgate or Blitzsafe?

I have 04 TSX w/Navi as well, and recently got Blitzsafe adaptor that was specifically made for Acura/Honda with Navi. I installed it as instructed (I don't do this often, but this install was pretty simple), but could not get my radio to recognize the AUX input. I even disconnected the battery long enough to reset my radio (you need to input the security code afterwards) and still wouldn't recognize it. I called tech support once, but was not very helpful.

I am getting the one made by Soundgate today and see if that is going to work. I don't know where you got yours from, but as far as I could tell, SHOND3 model made for Navi-eqiupped cars was not available? I purchased 2-port Y bus harness from Honda dealer, instead of modifying the SHOND3 myself, to see if this setup works..

By the way, I did talk to a Honda tech when I was at the dealer, and he said that he has installed Honda MP3-CD player before and did not have to reset the radio for it to recognize the AUX input.

Just a quick update. The SHOND3 made by Soundgate works fine in my 04 TSX, with the 2-port harness from Honda. I don't know what is wrong with the Blitzsafe unit, maybe I just got a bad one.

tsxviet
02-24-2005, 01:40 AM
ya man, I did everything BUT reset the car and entered the radio code again, so I'll try that soon. I emailed the guy who sold it to me and this is what he said:

remove the power completely from the radio (unplug all of the plugs of the
radio), so the radio can power back on and see all the components. Make sure you
have the radio code before you do this.

So tell me what that really means, does he mean just do a reset and re-enter the radio code? What else do I have to unplug.

By the way, I have a Blitzsafe one, so if it no work imma return it and get the soundgate one, can you tell me where you got yours and how much? Thanks a lot.

tsxviet
02-24-2005, 01:56 AM
One more thing, so Hiko, if the blitzsafe unit doesnt work, i needa get the NON-navi soundgate one? And I have to go to Honda and buy the Y-adapter harness from them? Is that what you did? Cuz I cant seem to find one from Soundgate made for the Navigation version of the 04 TSX. How much was your y-adapter harness from Honda?

Hiko
02-24-2005, 11:59 AM
I got both units from Logjam. If you call Blitzsafe's tech support and explain the issues you are having, they will replace it for you. I talked to a tech yesterday at Blitzsafe and he said there were some units that have issues with TSX, and he will send a replacement if you want. I'm just returning mine to Logjam since I have the other unit.

The 2-port harness from Honda was about $50 from a dealer, but I've seen it as low as $30 on the Internet. (part number 08A31-0F1-000) Soundgate does NOT make a unit that would work with Navi models w/o modifying the cable or getting this harness..

But since Blitzsafe is offering a replacement, I would try that first?

If everything works, you do not have to reset the radio by disconnecting the battery or unplug power from the radio. HTH.

I'm looking at that document - it doesn't say it fits the TSX.

Did you read the footnote? It states that the auxiliary input for the TSX is through the VIDFM8T or VIDFM40T FM transmitter. Which means it doesn't really work with the SNHOND.

I have the SNHOND3 and it works - you can test your $50 on the SNHOND, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with the TSX.

Oh, and you're looking at the wrong category for the TSX. The stock TSX does not come with an external CD changer. The 6-CD changer is considered internal.
