Did a few searches but I couldn't find the answer.

Today I was listening to my music and all of a sudden my Subwoofer just cut out (it's happened before but it was just a loose wire), then like 5 minutes later, it turned back on, I turn off my car and run in the store, come back out and turn on the car, and now my sub doesn't turn on at all. My amp still has power going to it, I don't think any of the fuses are blown. I checked all the wires and there isn't anything loose. I hope it's not a blown sub..??

If the sub was blown you'd likely still hear it, it would just sound like crap. Are you sure your amp isn't going into some sort of protection mode? That could explain the cutting in and out.

I used to have an old alpine amp and it would cut power to my subs if it was running hot. It would turn back on minutes later or if the car was turned back on.

It may just be in protection mode. :donno:

power the car up and check the display on the amp. if it says HOT, the protection circuit is activated due to high temp. if it says TEM, the amp has been shutdown due to excessive heat (mine has yet to show this and im in phoenix). if it says VLT the amp has been shut down due to excessive voltage. If it says CUR the amp has been shut down due to excessive current.

this is right out of the manual. if none of these show, re check all connections. sometimes fuses look good but are actually blown.

If it says CUR the amp has been shut down due to excessive current.

I ended up buying another sub and it works, its the same sub running on the same settings, but on this new sub i get the CUR error, what does the excessive current mean? and how could i fix this? thanks
