hey guys, I have a question, do you really need the hex wrench to adjust the damping? I was cleaning my engine bay today and I happened to take the cap off one of coil overs and it seems as though you can just twist it? if thats the case then I'm screwed because I was twisting the cap to try and get it off instead of pulling it off. please clarify this for me thanks a lot!

So you can Adjust the damping by just twisting the knobs with your fingers? you don't have to used the supplied wrench to adjust the damping? by wrench i mean the six sided tool with a green handle on top. Not the steel wrenches.

thanks again guys I'm confused.

what tools? Ok...when I bought my Tein SS, I don't even have ANY wrenches. I I just twisted my Tein SS lowered by hand before install. Then after installed, I just just my hands to twist those knobs. I didn't use any tools at all. You only need the wrench to adjust the height when your coilovers are installed.

aznball3r's hex wrench = allen key type to adjust the dampening
Spanner tool is for the ride height.

Thanks guys. I figured it out I just turned it counter clockwise until it couldn't turn anymore and figured that was full soft... and from there I went back to 8 clicks clockwise. thanks for the help as always.

Yeah, I originally thought that I had to use the tool that's provided to adjust the dampening. I wanted to replace that tool with one that can work at an angle, but when I asked here on the forums, I was semi-flamed. Apparently it was obvious to everyone except me (a 1st-timer tein coilover) that you can use your fingers. I think the tool would help though to realize the clicks (since sometimes Ican't feel it, maybe the knobs of the tool will provide a visual of the clicks)

I hope you didn't rotate the cylinder counter-clockwise more than 16 times while trying to remove the cap.

Glad you found out how to operate your new goodie. Now begins the problem of finding your perfect settings. If you just leave it at 8, you might as well have gotten the tein basics
