A company I have dealt with in the past is currently designing and manufacturing clear and smoke tail lights for our cars. I don't have anymore details so far but from my personal experience with them, we can expect a very high quality item. I will keep you updated on the process, but for now, they would like to get some feedback from owners on which would have more interest: clear or smoke.

Obviously, some ppl will prefer to keep their stock red ones, and nobody is preventing them from that. This question goes only to those that are interested in changing their tail lights from red to smoke or clear.

Please vote to provide the feedback.
Thank you.

I would say clear cause you can always smoke them later if you wanted to.

i've seen smoked tails before and they look good imo...but have yet to ever see a clear set of tail lights and can't imagine how it will look, but i wouldn't go for it. they will manufacturer both tail light assemblies? including the part that is attached to the trunk?

neither..it's a safety issue to me.

i've heard stories where people had clear taillights and the driver rear ended the guy with the clears but insurance claims that the guy with the clears is at fault because his brake lights/regualr lights were off color and confusing.

also, smoked tailights make brake lights less bright and people can assume they are not braking.

Yes I know there is a third brake light but to me, safety first.

perhaps I should make myself clearER. The taillights we're talking about are Altezza-like, the housings would be clear/smoke, but the actual lights would light up red. I thought this was common sense...
The lights will most likely utilize LEDs, since there's no point of investing in an old technology nowadays.

smoke! Haha, my one vote takes it on the lead!

Clear will look too ricey and altezza like. Also, Clear only looks good on white, silver, and black, but smoke will be good for all color applications

Pete some guy had talked to overseas about making clear lens and clear turn signals.

The mold said would be 5000 bucks... for the machine
but the lens would be 1 buck.

this is a film you apply and dries from the heat outside. Going to do my headlights with a light smoke but the shop I got the film from was out of light smoke

On a side note, if not altezza's how else would you clear a TSX Taillight... The JDM lights have orange corners, so the TSX Tailights are in a Euro Tuner style, actually cleared as it is from the factory... The Whole Clear lens look is to get rid of the orange, if theres no orange to begin with, theres no problem then

This might sound stupid, but has anyone ever had the idea to paint your tails, matching the car, and only leave the circles, and indicators unpainted. might look good with some leds. :wall:

This company is actually in the process of doing them. They got the inner lamps almost complete, from what he told me. Next they need to work on the outer. Some time ago they met up with Honda reps overseas, so I think they might've gotten some help from them on that. I don't know anything beyond that for now.
