We're thinking of producing some cables for use with cars equipped with 3.5mm female Aux-in jacks. We will make cables for various devices such as iPods, PSP, Samsung jacks, HTC smartphone jacks, 2.5mm jacks, LG jacks, etc. It will basically plug into your MP3 cellphone/player on one end and then directly into the AUX-in in your car's stereo. It will give you a simple solution to play the MP3s on your mobile device in your car stereo equipped with AUX-in port.
What do you guys think?
Also, if we do make these, we can make two versions. Retractable or non-Retractable. Which one would you prefer?
Examples:
Retractable:

retractable seems to be the better choice in space-saving and ease of storage. But wont the wiring be a bit more brittle?

You're right, the retractable cable would not be as sturdy as the regular cable. But if you don't abuse it, then it should last just as long as the regular type. The quality also would not be hindered as both cables will be shielded with the special rubber coating and gauge of wire we use.
Just to clarify, this cable would plug into the front mount Aux-in ports found on the 2006+ TSX and other new Hondas and Acuras today. Not the RCA type found on the back of some factory and aftermarket head units.

Would they be special in any way? I just bought a cheapo one in a local store (couldn't justify buying a Monster one).
I would choose the retractable one, since my cheapo one is long and takes up alot of space. Having it long is nice though, since the TSX has that gap to allow you to bring your mp3 device out and about while the center console is closed.

You found a cheapo cable from a store that connects your phone directly to a 3.5mm female jack? Wow I have ever seen samsung jack to 3.5mm male cables anywhere, mind if I ask what type of cable you got (what brand of phone) and where you got it?
We're thinking a "slinky" style cable (found on most wired home telephone receivers). It would be 2 ft relaxed and 3-4 ft extended. This way you can have some of the benefits of a retractable cable while having the durability of a regular cable.
