Hi im currently purchasing a 2007 tsx without the navi, well actually not me my parents. (BTW is it better to pay the car all in full so you dont get interest rate?) But ive been reading on the forum that the navi is the best on the tsx and i wanted it in the car. My parents think its too much money and that you could get a portable one for just 300 bucks or less that works just as good. I cant complain that im gettin a car from my parents but should i be worried that it doesnt have navi? is that a big turnoff? plus its automatic, but i would have liked a manual since its more fun to drive (but i havent practice a manual car ever so it would be my first time). All im saying is that is it still a good car w/o the navi???and automatic? Hows the steptronic for the automatic, does it behave just like a manual? One of my friends told me that they are fake and really doesnt do anything manual like. How is it different?
Plus there is alot of grip about how it isnt powerful but when i look at a BMW 3 series it only has 230 hp V6 compared to a 205hp 4cylinder. Does the 25 more HP make a whole lota difference?
Sorry for the questions and im glad to be gettin a TSX. Thanks

You should definitely consider getting your car with NAVI. You cannot compare the stock NAVI to a 300bucks portable GPS. The screen size on the TSX is way bigger than most cars out in the market and majority of the controls will be built-in to the LCD screen. THe NAVI comes in handy even around town. I use it almost everyday.

Transmission.... really depends on personal perference. If the car was for your parents, I guess you should get automatic. For some reason, it seems like the 6sp MT makes a huge difference in driving and performance.

well the car is for me, but i cant convince them that the navi is great enough to spend extra 2k plus they would have to install a premium lowjack for 900 bucks.
I say the navi is great cause it has integrated controls into the car. but they say it cost 2k extra and that im not paying for it. True and i have nothing to argue against it except getting a 300 buck navi....

I just got a 07 tsx GCP my parents also thought the navi was expensive but now that we have it, they and I are glad we have it. The voice controlled options make driving alot safer now. I am still getting used to it but saying things instead of looking down and say adjusting the climate control is alot safer imo. Also if you note, the tsx tends to have alot of the same type buttons so its hard to just feel for a difference.

I have an auto and never drove a stick but the auto is pretty smart, better than my old 4 speed. It holds gear in turns and uphill but it is no manual. The shifts are a bit slow (it takes a brief millisecond to respond)

And what is with everyone trying to compare horsepower? Horsepower is a definition of work, torque is what power is. And even though the bmw has only 25 more horsepower it has more torque down lower in the rpm. So it will pull better say from 5th gear or so. The tsx is rather a high revving engine that needs to rev to get power (thats fine with me)

The NAVI is worth the extra $2K. I love the voice command on the TSX.
Me: Temperature down
TSX: A/C OFF

Me: Damn!!! Temperature down
TSX: Radio ON

Me: What time is it?
TSX: RADIO OFF

hahahaha!!!

i went for navi, and i feel its WELL worth the $2k. just changes the whole car electronically and even cosmetically inside. its just more beautiful to look at, and the nav is amazing! but in my line of work, i use it ALOT also. but then my wife pretty much uses it all the time also, and you can look up local restaurants, businesses, etc. really a great tool to have.

not to mention you can, on the 06+, really easily and cheaply mod it to hook up a back up camera....show your parents that, and say its an added safety feature, and you cant put a price on safety :)

portable units are cool, but nothing like the acura navi and the way its integrated into the vehicle. its pretty much the thing that sold me on the car.

the auto is nice, i drove stick for years and switched to auto when i bought the tsx, and i love it. especially i thank my decision to go auto whenever im in traffic. and remember however, the tsx is not a "fast" car, but its still quick....at least enough power for everyday use. dont race though...you'll lose to anything decent.

Mixed up, sorry.

I'm not sure about this, but the portable gps devices aren't allowed because they stick onto the windshield and blocks the field of vision, right? Oh well, you're getting the acura one anyways. Congrats on the purchase.

Im not spoiled.... im planning on paying my parents back with buying them a new house when i finish medical school and get the money to. They are buying it for me cause they want to, not because i begged them for it. And i mostly volunteer at hospitals.

Good for you!

I think there was just a misunderstanding and hope that people don't get too judgemental until they know the full story before criticizing!

I think if I had a kid who was going to medical school and I had the money, then I would do the same! I think my kid definitely EARNED and DESERVES a car like that! And besides, do you know how much medical school is?! So, I think it's an even trade!

Enjoy your car and good luck in school!
