I've had this for a while, but have been postponing the review until I can see the navi screen at all times of the day (ie: the sun throughout its path in the sky). I haven't been able to fully test it, but since I haven't had any problems with viewing the screen, I think the anti-glare is working. Anyway, now for the review...
I had been postponing applying a protector for my navi screen because I didn't want to mess with how it looks. However, one day, I had to drive some co-workers to a seminar. One of my co-workers kept tapping at my navi screen to check out what it can do. The annoying thing was that he was using his nail and tapping really hard on the screen. I didn't want to say anything (he's a higher rank than me), but I made sure I ordered the protector within a week of the seminar.
I ordered one anti-glare protector (http://www.javoedge.com/reflexeshop/productCatalog/getProduct.do?poid=1475&pbmId=11701), usb charger (plugs into the power socket to power usb devices), and a phone charger for my particular phone (one end is a usb plug, so I can use the usb charger to charge my phone on long trips).
Although it took a while to get here (I ordered this first among several other car mods, and this order arrived last), it was very well packed. They used a USPS priority mail cardboard box to enclose my order (they did it inside out, so maybe it also serves as a return box in case I need to RMA a product?). This box was then put into a tight-fitting plastic bag before mailed to me.
The usb charger and phone charger look and feel like they were very well constructed. They felt good enough to drop onto the floor a few times (no, I didn't give it the drop test =P).
As for the protector, it had a plastic sheet protecting it's adhesive side (i can't remember if the other side was protected as well). Anyway, the protector and its plastic sheet were also inside a plastic jacket. The protector also came with a cleaning cloth and the installation tool (plastic card). By the way, the card has an arrow pointing to the narrow edge, but it's much easier to use the longer edge.
I decided to install the protector during my break at work since they have supplies there (compressed air can, book tape, etc). I first installed the protector on the passenger side of the screen (as close as possible without going between the screen and the navi's frame). I tried hard, but I somehow managed to get a big dust particle stuck in the center of the navi screen (I was in a hurry to get back to work). With the right edge of the protector flushed with the screen, the left side is maybe 1.5 mm short of the left side (which was okay for me, since I'm the driver I won't be able to see it much from my side).
The instructions say it takes 24-48 hours for the bubbles to work themselves out. I wanted them all out, so I worked out most of the bubbles. However, I couldn't get the stupid dust particle in the center to be less noticeable. I figured I'd just fix it later on (this was on a friday). That dust particle was surely noticeable on the drive home.
I didn't drive my TSX that weekend. On monday, I was like, "huh, where'd that dust particle go?" I couldn't notice it from where I was sitting (I had to get very close). So apparently it does fix itself!
At work, I proceeded to follow the instructions on removing the protector. My first few attempts failed. I then tried it while "holding" the tape to the protector (previous attempts only had me peeling the tape off...my finger kept the tape on). The protector came out so easily. I then washed the protector and flapped it like a polaroid to dry it. It felt a bit more sturdy than the protector I bought for my Palm TX from Fry's Electronics. I then applied the protector to the screen again. This time it was much easier (maybe the water helped keep the bubbles from forming). First attempt took 15-20 minutes and my 2nd attempt took 7 minutes. This time I left a little more space on the right to make the protector more centered on the screen.
The screen still looks great. The only "negative" thing about it is that when I use my fingers on the touch screen, it feels different...as if I'm pressing on a semi-hard plastic. This isn't really a negative, as it needs that thickness to protect the screen from my co-worker's tapping nails. I just have to get used to the new feel of the screen. After all, the protector isn't made of the same material as the navi screen.
All of the buttons still work.
The only regret I have is that I didn't buy the kit that comes with 1 anti-glare and 1 ultra-clear. It's so easy to remove them...I would have liked to see how the ultra-clear looks/feels.
