Rear 6x9s playing only bass?

Is this just my car or does everyone elses rear 6x9's only play bass and doesnt play words. They are acting as subs for some reason. Can anyone help me out? Is this how its sopposed to be or is there any way i can change it to play normal music and not just low frequencies.
