Hi Guys, as you may or may not know, i have been trying to develop the LED door lights i made for my car. I would like to see how many of you would be interested.
Price: I have decided on a price which i think is fair to everyone and which would cover my costs (parts/labor etc...).
Pre-assembled:
1 Pair = 35$ + Shipping
If get 10 or more orders, i will bump the price down to 30$+Shipping.
These would be 12 LEDS (Lumiled Superflux LEDS) for each door, they are bright and have a nice wide viewing angle.
I can do these in the following colors: Blue, Red, Amber and White. The white ones may be a bit more as those LEDs are much pricier.
Once i have a good amount of orders confirmed I will begin getting these made.
Please post your interest and FeedBack.
So far i have the following people interested:
Drunkenbuda
xjohnkdoex - Blue
ATX-TX Speed - Blue
pdpgps
sandog711 - Red
human668- White
Phonzy - Blue
Cypher - White

Great! However the TSX only has lights for the front doors.
These light will however fit into the previous gen accords and i believe TL's front doors.

lol, my mistake. i don't know why i thought the rear doors had them too.
but yeah, i'd be down for a set.
are you working on anything for the dome/map lights? i've heard reports of the superbrightleds/autolumination bulbs crapping out after a while, in addition to the marginal size issue (i think ppl squeeze them in b/c it's not the exact fit, but close).

02-13-2008, 12:08 PM
hehe no problem.
Regarding the Dome lights, you would probably be better with the superbrightleds ones as I do not have any SMD LEDs on hand and they a bit more difficult to wire. Though i have not tried to see if i could fit some superflux LEDs into the domes.

what might be the eta for these lights? i know you mentioned in the other post that you were looking into some manufacturers overseas to make them faster and cheaper.

Hi Guys, the ETA on these would be (hopefully in another two weeks) sorry I have been very busy lately with other matters but I will get on these as soon as i can.
These doors lights are only for the front doors as we do not have lights in our rear doors.
I have them in the following colors: Blue, Red, White & Amber
I do not believe they run hotter than the stock bulbs, if so its nothing dangerous. I have had mines for quite some time now (going on 2 years ?) So they should be good.

Hi again guys. I am still waiting on news from the manufacturer in China once i do get any updates i will let you know.
I'm Fairly certain these lights will last a really long time, I don't foresee the LEDS themselves dying, but maybe some connections over time (not entirely sure how good quality the manufacturer is)
As far as installation, there will be no wiring involved, you simply need to remove the plastic cover with a flat head, pop out the original bulb and insert this one. I must note though since this design takes up more space, removing this one is a bit tricker but not impossible.

You're not too late, I am still waiting on the manufacturer.
I'll also need to compile all the people who wanted one and put it into a nice list. Unless of course someone else wants to do that for me :)

I think i might have to limit this first "round" of orders to 18 as i don't want to overwhelm myself and not be able to get them all done.
So that leaves one more pair left. Hopefully I should have enough parts for even that, but i can always get more.
However, If i were to do another round the price may go up so just a warning :)
Also, another note, the current price is 30$ however i would like to ask if people can include paypal fees as well so that's 30$ plus the 3% paypal fee.
So payments would be basically 31$ + Shipping.
I will only ask for the payments once i am ready to ship them out.
Thanks.

Aren't these to expensive for LED door lights? Can't I just purchase one from superbrightled.com that comes with interior led's and license plate led together for like 25 bucks or something like that?
Phisigbrotha
06-25-2008, 01:43 AM
Could go with just an LED bulb, but these are an LED array. Pretty trick looking and even looking light dispersion.
:fro:
xjohnkdoex
06-25-2008, 10:37 AM
yeah, i think the way the light glows with the bulb alone is only one specific direction. it's not very spread out.
this pattern is a lot better. plus, i've heard some stories that those bulbs end up acting funny b/c of fitment issues, particularly with the map or dome lights.
i think if these are installed, plus the already stock blue lighting, and if you add some blue interior LEDs under the dash by your feet, it'll look nice.

Round 1 LED... FAIL :buttkick:
xjohnkdoex
07-19-2008, 01:03 AM
i actually got blue led bulbs from superbrightleds just to see what they look like. they're nice, but the light dispersion isn't really that great. the light is still all concentrated specifically at the bulb (got the 6 node one).
anyways, i'd still like to get these just b/c with the number of LEDs spaced out on the board, the whole housing will be lit blue, rather than the dead center where the light is the strongest for those bulbs.

He hasnt been on in months and if you want better light dispersion instead of having it concentrated on single spot. lightly sand each bulb it will disperse the light better.

sanding the tip does improve width, but causes more internal reflection and you lose a small amount of output strength if finely sanded. You lose a lot when the sanding is too coarse. A board of LED's is still the way to go if you want brighter.

Yea man, dead thread. I got my LED's from ijdmtoy.com and they are great, my boy got some from superbrightled.com and they look good too. You also got eBay if you want the circuit board dispersion. But in gen this thread is dead so no more need to bring this up guys.
