Tryin to make the decision as to whether or not to trade my CL9 for the new CU2. I'd be getting so much more in the new one but I love my baby. What u think?

in all honest truth, you'd be better off getting a V6 accord sedan/coupe if you were to get rid of your CL9.

Go TL-S in stick. You will be a very happy person.

Gotta agree w/ Pacemaker... I have both in the fam, and if I had to do it all over again, I'd still take the TL-S over the '09 TSX I test drove...

Yeah I'd go for the TL-S myself trick that funky 09'

I was at the dealer last week getting my oil changed and while waiting I wanted to test drive the 09 but after checking it out on the show room floor I lost all desire to do anything with that car, I was so turned off by it. I ended up spending most my time with the TL-S.

TL-S is nice..but remember the design is outdated.

I agree with everything you guys have said about the older model being sweeter than the new one ---- except I'm talking about my 2005 Tundra compared to the ugly, incredibly ill-timed new Tundra Toyota has produced :-).

Seriously speaking, I'm looking at the TSX as my next ride primarily because it's smaller than the Accord, bigger than the Civic and is quiter and more sophisticated than both. With the 2008 being discounted $2.5K by some dealers I have to consider them although it's a value for the money thing rather than ability to pay. Anyone who has experienced both care to comment on which they would buy if they were starting from scratch? I would likely keep it my usual 3-5 years and couldn't care less about projecting a sports-car-owner image. I'm more interested in a comfortable, reasonably fuel-efficient car -- perhaps the market the 2009 was designed for.

TSXrs on the other TSX site report seeing mostly older "50+" people driving the 2009 -- so the shift from performance to the small-but-nice market has started. Sorry about that but it's probably an easier place to compete for volume.

Well I had a revelation today. My nearest Acura dealer is 75mi away and I haven't seen either a 1st or 2nd gen TSX up-close in a parking lot or elsewhere in the two months or so I've been interested in them -- but I had an opportunity to visit the dealer today. To my surprise I found that the 1st gen is a far better looking car (to-my-eye) than the 2nd. I like it's size and plainness and if Acura had made th same mechanical and suspension changes to it as they did to the 2nd gen and offered both for sale I would go for the 1st gen without questions. I was determined to disregard the 2nd gen grill but I still found it garish looking in the front. I guess I'll have to just get used to the 2nd gens looks however as long days on our Interstates should be much less punishing than in the 1st.

Something that turned me off in general is the fake dual pipes both gens apparently have. To me, having dual pipes that don't split at the manifold is like putting socks in your pants to impress the ladies. I think I would live in constant fear that someone will ask me if I have headers -- but it's possible, if I check around, I'll find that many manufacturers put false-duals on the cars they sell in the US. Maybe that's where we are, or at least where they think we are.

i dont think the new tsx is too bad to look at, although the first gen is better looking....but what i HATE is that they took away touch screen nav for the BS wanna be bmw type nav system following suit with all the other crap systems. i mean, they had a good thing going with touchscreen, but now it stinks. my friend has a new MDX and the new TSX nav is the same system, and it sucks.

they should have kept touchscreen nav, added nav traffic, added weather, and all the other cool features like back up cam, and kept the same touch layout.

next, another 40 horses added would be a smart move, although bringing the price up, i think most would be happy to spend a little extra to get a little extra. i would trade in my 06 if all that was true....but as of now, im not a fan of the new tsx.

Hello! New to the foroum.

Anywho, I haven't driven a 6SP MT 09 yet but I have been in a the first gen auto. It was nice but it didn't wow me. For some reason the interior of the 09 wow'ed me, even with the bajillion buttons in the center dash. I definitely have to drive one soon.

We have to remember that the TSX was meant as an entry level near-lux near-sport sedan...there are a couple of other cars out there for more money will give you more peformance. The BMW, Infiniti, and heck even the Audi 2.0T will do just that. But for those that want the cool gadgetry, some nimbleness in a great all around every day car, the TSX would be it. I

have to admit, I'm not an enthusiast like most people that join the forums (though I do like to enjoy my cars), but then again I don't race my cars on a track or on the street.

FWIW, The TL-S is pretty darn nice too, but I felt the interior of the cabin was a bit outdated. Hello, tape deck? I was blessed to drive a TL-S as well, and that thing rails. It handled quite nice, had awesome pick up no matter what gear you were in. It felt big, but of course this is coming from an RSX.

FYI I went to the BMW dealer the other day and test drove some 3 series and 1 series.

BMW has NOTHING even close to what the TSX has (even the ugly new one) as far as features for the price.

Even if you get a 1 series and equip it as well as the TSX comes equipped stock, you'll still end up paying nearly what a TL Type-S costs. Check the configurator on their site and try it.

MB is the same way with the new C class. Initial price is low, but that comes with NOTHING. The 1 series doesn't even come with real leather seats, power seats, dimming mirrors, heated seats, or Bluetooth stock. The TSX comes with all of that and more. Even the 3 series comes with much less than the TSX does as far as features, and still costs more. (You get RWD and an I6, but you also get crappier mileage and lose Honda reliability).

I even drove a 335 and still wasn't ready to trade my TSX in yet... the 335 was good, but it wasn't $17K more expensive good. I'd rather have the TSX and a brand new Civic LX.

I do wish the TSX came with push button start though. That thing is cool!

It isn't that hard to modify.

You can do it on any car. Just gotta find the right wires.

The 335 had the push button start. To be honest it was annoying.

You had to stick the key in the dash, and then press it to pop it in. You'd then hit the button to start the car. Car would start, all is well. Then to turn the car off, you hit the button again, car dies, and you have to the push in the key to get it to pop back out, then put it in your pocket or whatever.

Some things that are annoying with this - I have a bunch of keys on my keychain. Work, house, other cars, etc. All of those dangling around from my BMW key, banging up against my dash and scratching it wouldn't be cool.

Second, you have to go through just as much (if not more) effort to start the car this way than to just put the key in and turn it. I could see where an RFID key would make sense, since you don't have to actually insert it like the BMW key, but the car I drove wasn't that way. You can get that option, but it was something like $800.

RFID would rock if you were lazy (though I could find better things to spend $800 on), but a push button start with a key that you still have to insert is a gimmick.

I see....

I forget how it is in the G37. I test drove the G37 in 6MT 2-3 weeks ago. I forget if I had to put the key in the ignition LOL. I probably did...

S2000 is the same way - you actually have to put the key in and then push the button. Kinda pointless IMO.

Some of the Nissans are coming with the RFID key stuff now. Auto lock/unlock and engine start without inserting a key when you press the Start button. That makes much more sense and is super convenient. BMW just wants too much for it in it's "packages" that you have to add on.

Lexus ones are better. Just get in the car and push the button.

^^^My friend's '05 and '08 Infiniti M35x didn't require insertion of a key for the push button start, so it's been available... but apparently only on the higher end models until now.

As for the touchscreen feature that was brought up earlier in the thread --- I wholeheartedly agree... I HATE using a dial/button interface to operate the nav or other functions. I find it interesting that Infiniti started out with the dial/button interface, and now in their '08+ models, they've "regressed" to a touchscreen. I'll be interested to see if any of the German marques follow suit...
