Unbiased story. No real conclusion. But the head of the Vets is not a guy that lacks credibility. USNA and UT Law First in Class.

Cool, HondaMan!
Obviously I'm on the other side of this, but I gotta applaud you. It's a hoot even just to get a letter printed, and you really did a good job.
Well written, well done.
Larchmont, who appreciates a worthy opponent.
And who hasn't had a political letter printed since around the Polk administration. :D

I messed up this sentence a little: Now the 9/11 commission was a joke for the most part, but it did bring to light certain government short comings and they will be dealt with accordingly. However, it still reads OK.
My grandpa writes into this paper a lot and I wanted to add to and continue this family activity. :D

I think a lot of those letters to the editor are from grandpas.
They have the time, and the knowledge.

You don't want to know...he is more "right-wing" than me and a devout Christian. :)

Almost afraid to ask, but.....what does he say about our man Kerry? My FATHER was a WW-I AND WW-II volunteer who entered the New York Guard as a Private during WW-I, was wounded (seriously, not a Band-Aid scratch, he always walked with a limp) discharged, and volunteered AGAIN for WW-II, lying about the extent of this WW-I wounds, and finally left as a Major after WW-II.
He's dead now, but I am certain he would rather have been shot AGAIN than vote for a John Kerry!
He would not have even THOUGHT about going into combat carrying a Super-8 movie camera. He would NEVER even TALK about his war experiences, never mind recreate them for a political career.

Your father was a great American and reminds of my grandfather! My grandfather would rather be shoot as well than have Kerry as President (to say the least)! He was a gunner on a B-26 during the latter part of the European theater…he flew in about 8 missions. He has told me some things about WW2 like he respected the Germans far more than the French he met there. He dislikes the French and with good reason, so do I for that matter for some of the same reasons. My grandfather does not have a purple heart as far as I know and I can say with certainty that if he got a scratch during his service he would not have pushed to get a purple heart for it like Kerry...I’m willing to bet he got some scratches here and there and I'm going to ask him about that tonight.
God Bless our Troops and Vets! :)
This is a touchy subject, so I'll try to step lightly. I don't particularly care for John Kerry, and I don't find myself agreeing with his politics. All that aside....let's remember that the man showed up and presented himself for service to this country.
Say what you want about his politics, but he was there and he fought, which is more than can be said about our last two Presidents. Hell, that's more than can be said for most of the people I know, most of the people in politics, and especially those in the Bush administration who never even served to begin with, but don't seem to mind sending troops into battle. But I digress.
I don't really care about the Purple Heart issue, either way. From what I understand, you can't give yourself a Purple Heart. If he lobbied to get them, big deal -- I bet a lot of people did, if it's even possible. If he got them honestly, again, big deal. I know many people with Purple Hearts, since I live in a town with an Army base, and worked out there for many years. None of them are qualified to lead solely because they possess a Purple Heart.
Let's also not forget that while Kerry was earning -- or lobbying for -- his Purple Hearts, Bush was hiding under daddy's wings in the guard, doing cocaine (which he admitted to doing) and racking up DUI's. And Clinton?? He was trying desperately not to inhale. :D

Good point Ferg.
I'm not a Kerry fan either, and I think he needs to STFU about his purple hearts. I also see Bush's weaknesses.
