Although he's definitely the underdog, my best guess is that he will. Carpetbagging seems to be OK now after Hillary and Dole's victories.
My reasoning is that after he ran for President in 1996, he doubled his speaking fee. So if he wins, he wins. If he loses, he wins, too... all the way to the bank!
A "Classic" Win-Win choice for Dr. Keyes!

Phew!!!
When I saw the title, I thought for sure you meant he was thinking of getting on the ballot for PRESIDENT!!! If we think Nader might make a mess of things, what about if Keyes got on?
We'd have fun anyway debating who he'd hurt more. Which would be interesting.....not that we could ever figure it out.
Could Keyes ever hold any office? I don't mean just get elected, but do the job. I guess senator would be OK because you don't really have to do anything.
I've had the impression that we don't really know who he is or what he thinks. The stupid stuff he says is just too stupid to really be him. I suspect that his "real self" is better than the stupid stuff that he says. The problem is that sometimes after a while, a person becomes the stupid stuff he says.
(Nice get, Bob!)

What stupid stuff? If I recall correctly he is rather smart!

What stupid stuff? If I recall correctly he is rather smart! No, he's one of the smartest and most articulate voices to be found in politics (either size) today. On occasion he comes up with extremely logical arguments for positions that are rejected by about 95% of the population. Which is why he never gets elected to anything. But he sure ain't stoopid!
(No. Keyes is a Harvard man. Larch's slander must have something to do with Harvard v. Cornell football....)
Far above Cayuga's waters
There's an awful smell --
Some say it's Cayuga's waters,
We know it's Cornell
(Chorus Begin)
Flush the toilets,
Flush the toilets,
Flush them all to hell!
Twenty-thousand sons of bitches
Call themselves Cornell.
(Chorus End)
:D
So it'll be Harvard v. Harvard. It'll make it the most interesting '04 Senate race, for sure! My check is in the mail just as soon as he makes it official!

My $0.02 sez Keyes Officially accepts the nomination on one of the Sunday AM talk shows, maybe Fox, loses the Illinois senate race (but barely) and goes on to double his speaking fees and his # of bookings and write a couple of new books!

Key's running in IL when he to this date resides in MD. He critcized Hillary when she ran for her seat from NY - though she had already established residency more than 6 months before election. Hipocrisy?

Yeah...he was given some flak for what he said about Hillary and now he's doing it. I think he finally bought a house here...but dont' quote me on it. This'll be interesting...
